This data release contains datasets developed for the purpose of training and applying random forest models to the Mississippi Embayment Regional Study Area. The random forest models are designed to predict total stream flow and baseflow as a function of a combination of watershed characteristics and monthly weather data. These datasets are associated with a report (SIR 2022-5079) and code contained in a USGS GitLab repository. The GitLab repository (https://code.usgs.gov/map/maprandomforest/) contains much more information about how these data may be used to supply predictions of stream flow and baseflow.

This model archive makes available the calibrated Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model used to simulate potential recharge for the Mississippi Alluvial Aquifer for 1915 to 2018. The model was calibrated using monthly values of evapotranspiration and annual values of runoff and recharge for 19 drainage basins selected from within or nearby the Mississippi Alluvial Aquifer system. The calibrated SWB model and its use are described in the associated U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2021-1008. The model was used to create output at two different scales: 1,609-meter and 1,000-meter grid cells. Also included are files used to generate a high-resolution (100-meter) subset of output for an area near Shellmound, Mississippi....

The USGS Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) Model was applied to 644 basins as defined at the level of an 8-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC). Support scripts, model inputs, and model outputs are provided in this archive.

This model archive makes available the calibrated Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model used to simulate potential recharge for the glacial aquifer system east of the Rocky Mountains in the conterminous United States at a 1-kilometer (km) resolution for the period 1980-2011. The calibrated SWB model in this model archive and associated U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report is referred to as the glacial SWB model. Potential groundwater recharge was determined on a daily basis as precipitation in excess of interception, runoff, evapotranspiration, and soil water storage capacity. Daily groundwater recharge amounts were aggregated to an annual basis for grids available in this model archive. Potential recharge...

This item provides Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model output and a model archive of water budget simulations for the Mississippi Embayment Regional Aquifer System (MERAS) during the period 2000 to 2020. Gridded daily data (1 kilometer resolution) include net infiltration (groundwater recharge), rejected net infiltration, runoff, irrigation, actual evapotranspiration and gross precipitation The model output files are in netcdf format and all water budget components are in inches. The net infiltration, rejected net infiltration, runoff, irrigation, and actual evapotranspiration data sets are from simulations done with the USGS SWB model (version 2; Westenbroek and others, 2018). The precipitation and temperature data...
