The Cache Creek Settling Basin (CCSB) is a 13.3 km2 levee-bounded sediment retention basin located at the modern terminus of Cache Creek near the eastern boundary of Yolo County, approximately two miles NE of Woodland, California. The Cache Creek Settling Basin was constructed in 1937 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to trap suspended sediment from the upper Cache Creek watershed during high-flow events, with the purpose of preserving the floodway capacity of the Yolo Bypass, a larger leveed floodway located downstream. This dataset includes subsamples from sediment cores and shallow streambank sediment collected from the Sacramento River watershed. Sediment cores were collected in the Cache Creek Settling Basin...

This dataset is a compilation of samples collected from draining mine adits, including water and mineral precipitates, from several mines in California and Colorado. The Golinsky, Copper Bluff, and Afterthought Mines (located in northern California) and the Gold King mine (located in southern Colorado) have historically operated to recover metals including copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver and other resources (Albers and Robertson, 1961; USGS, 2005; USEPA, 2015). Data reported include field parameters, water chemistry, solid phase mineralogy and solid phase chemistry. Water samples collected from the four mine sites in 2019 were analyzed for unfiltered and filtered (0.1-0.45 micrometer) major and trace elements and...

This data release includes sampling location data, laboratory processed surface water chemistry data (anions, cations, total nitrogen, dissolved organic carbon, deuterium, trace metals), laboratory processed pore water chemistry data (anions, cations, total nitrogen, dissolved organic carbon, trace metals), laboratory process sediment data (trace metals), and whole-body trace metal concentrations plus stable isotope values (carbon, nitrogen, deuterium) for larval aquatic insects, emergent adult insects, and two riparian spider families from Torch Lake and Gratiot Lake (N=3 sites at each lake). Torch Lake (Houghton County, Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan, USA) is a Great Lakes Area of Concern (AOC) owing to a high concentration...

The Marcellus Shale Energy and Environment Laboratory (MSEEL) site is a long-term field site and laboratory at the Northeast Natural Energy LLC (NNE) production facility, adjacent to the Monongahela River, located in western Monongalia County, West Virginia, USA. NNE began drilling two horizontal production wells, MIP (Morgantown Industrial Park) -5H and MIP-3H, in the Marcellus Shale in 2014. The wells were completed in December 2015. Large volumes of wastewater are generated with natural gas production. These wastewaters contain organic and inorganic chemical constituents from fracturing fluids used during drilling and stimulation of gas in host rocks/shale, as well as chemical compounds that are derived from...
