This dataset includes field hydrologic measurements and laboratory analyses of surface and pore waters, sediments, benthic plants/biofilms, and biota along the Middle Snake River upgradient of the Hells Canyon Complex. The study region for this work focuses on a section of the Snake River heavily utilized for agriculture, with complex systems of irrigation diversion and return drainage, spanning 164 km above the Hells Canyon Complex (Idaho, Oregon). Methylmercury (MeHg) and total mercury (HgT) stable isotope measurements were made by the USGS Mercury Research Lab (MRL) in different organs on the Giant Petrels (Macronectes spp.) to examine internal mercury cycling in these seabirds. These data were collected as a compliment to x-ray spectroscopy measurements made by the University of Grenoble, France. The tissues and feathers of the southern giant petrels exhibit large variability in mercury-202 isotope values (δ202HgT), which are typically used to ascertain Hg sources in the environment. The data in this data release includes results from the analysis of water and fish from 76 sites in the Everglades National Park (ENP). Water and particulate matter samples were collected from 2008 to 2018 and analyzed for total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg). Filtered water samples were also analyzed for dissolved organic carbon (DOC), specific ultraviolet absorbance (SUVA), and major anions. The pore water of eight wetlands in Interior and Southcentral Alaska were collected in 2015 (17 July - 22 July) and 2016 (12 July - 16 July). Wetlands were selected to span a range in trophic status (e.g., from bog to fen). Using ultraclean trace metal clean protocols, pore waters were sampled from shallow (10‑15 cm) and deep (20-35 cm) depths below the water table. Field measurements reported for pore waters include temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration, and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). Data collected in a series of laboratory experiments conducted with juvenile freshwater snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) reared in the laboratory and exposed to dissolved platinum (Pt), or polyvinylpyrrolidone coated platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) of five different nominal hydrodynamic diameters in the presence (or absence) of natural organic matter (NOM) are presented in this data release.
