Selected evapotranspiration data were collected from 7/5/2011 to 1/1/2017 at the Amargosa Desert Research Site (ADRS, https://nevada.usgs.gov/adrs/) in support of ongoing research to improve the understanding of hydrologic and contaminant-transport processes in arid environments. The data presented in this data release includes 30-minute and daily evapotranspiration and associated energy-balance fluxes, precipitation, soil water content, air and soil temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, and photosynthetically active radiation. This data release describes micrometeorological and soil-moisture data collected from January 1, 2017 through May 31, 2019 at the Amargosa Desert Research Site adjacent to a low-level radio­active waste and hazardous chemical waste facility near Beatty, Nevada. Micrometeorological data include precipitation, solar radiation, air temperature, relative humidity, saturated and ambient vapor pressure, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, and soil-water content. This release contains data from field and laboratory tests conducted by the USGS Groundwater Dating Laboratory between 2014 and 2017 during the development of a new dissolved and gas phase carbon dioxide sensor. The release also contains results of calibration, intercomparison, temperature, humidity, and stability experiments, as well as monitoring studies of CO2 in soil surface gas in the Amargosa Desert during the Toxic Substances Hydrology Amargosa Desert Research Site (ADRS) project, and measurements of dissolved CO2 (pCO2) in Upper Klamath Lake, in laboratory plant mesocosm studies at USGS headquarters in Reston, Virginia, as well as in creeks and streams in Northern Virginia.
This U.S. Geological Survey data release is a spreadsheet containing soil-profile measurements of ambient spring and fall water-potential and water-content conditions, and physical and chemical properties for four mine sites, Mohave County, Arizona, April and November 2018. The four mines sampled in both April and November were Kanab North (native soil and reclaimed soil), EZ2 (native soil), Arizona 1 (native soil), and Pinenut (native soil). These data were collected to characterize soil hydrologic conditions and properties in support of research being done to quantify water and metals transport in shallow soils at four semi-arid uranium mine sites at various stages of production on the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
