This metadata record describes a series of tabular datasets containing metrics used to characterize drought for select United States Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages for the climate years (April 1 – March 31) 1921 to 2020. These streamgages are a subset of those used in Geospatial Attributes of Gages for Evaluating Streamflow, version 2 (GAGES-II, Falcone, 2011) in the conterminous United States (CONUS). These metrics include streamflow percentiles, identified drought events, annual low streamflow, and drought statistics for each event.

Percentiles of monthly gw levels from the National Ground Water Monitoring Netowrk. This folder contains percentiles from the levels record for monthly data from USGS groundwater wells stored in NGWMN. Each of these zip folder contains percentiles calculated on these monthly groundwater levels for the time period specified in the title. Both continuous montitoring sites and tapedowns were condenced to monthly values by taking the first level measurement that occred within the month. Sites with more than 1/3 of month values missing from the time period were excluded. Each daily flow was grouped 2 different ways with flows in the month, and all site values. For each group the percentile/fraction of level ranking...

Groundwater Annual Drought Metrics -------------------------------- Percentile Annual Metrics -Total duration below threshold: The number of days of the year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Longest Duration below threshold: The longest continuous period in a year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Total volume below threshold: The volume of days of the year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Largest volume below threshold: The largest volume of a continuous period in a year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Minimum percentile: the lowest flow percentile in a year. -------------------------------- Percentile Event Metrics -Total drought volume: Annual...

This dataset includes georeferenced, high-resolution, airborne thermal infrared (TIR) and high-resolution true-color imagery, a polyline shapefile of the channel centerline, a polyline shapefile with TIR sample points for longitudinal stream temperature profiles, and a tabular file with longitudinal stream temperature profiles for the Donner und Blitzen River and its tributaries, Oregon. The aerial TIR surveys were conducted with a helicopter by NV5 Geospatial and are published as 17 raster mosaics in GeoTiff format with a resolution of 0.3 meters (m). The TIR mosaics contain corrected surface temperatures in degrees Celsius (C) (multiplied by 10 to create an unsigned integer pixel type). The longitudinal stream...

This metadata record describes a series of tabular datasets containing metrics used to characterize drought for select United States Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in and surrounding the Colorado River Basin for the climate years (April 1 – March 31) 1981 to 2020. These streamgages are a subset of those used in Geospatial Attributes of Gages for Evaluating Streamflow, version 2 (GAGES-II, Falcone, 2011) with some additional USGS streamgages not in the GAGES-II dataset added. The metrics include streamflow percentiles, identified drought events, annual low streamflow, and statistics for each drought event.

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
