Groundwater Annual Drought Metrics -------------------------------- Percentile Annual Metrics -Total duration below threshold: The number of days of the year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Longest Duration below threshold: The longest continuous period in a year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Total volume below threshold: The volume of days of the year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Largest volume below threshold: The largest volume of a continuous period in a year where flow percentiles are below the threshold. -Minimum percentile: the lowest flow percentile in a year. -------------------------------- Percentile Event Metrics -Total drought volume: Annual...

This folder contains summaries of droughts based on percentiles estimates of groundwater levels from NWIS and NGWMN for various time periods. It also contains various associated files that were used in assembling and producing this dataset. Additional information regarding NWIS groundwater data can be found here: USGS Groundwater Data for the Nation. More information regarding the NGWMN can be found here: National Ground-Water Monitoring Network (usgs.gov) -------------------------------------- Explanation of file names: The first several pieces are the type of data use to create the file "groundwater_percentiles" After this is the time period of analysis, e.g. "1970-2020" Next is the percentile calculation method,...

This folder contains percentiles from the levels record for monthly data from groundwater wells stored in NWIS and NGWMN. -------------------------------------------- Each of these zip folders contains percentiles calculated on these monthly groundwater levels for the period specified in the title. Both continuous monitoring sites and tape downs were condensed to monthly values by taking the first level measurement that occurred within the month. Sites with more than 33% of month values missing from any decade in the period were excluded. Each daily flow was grouped 2 different ways with flows in the month, and all site values. For each group the percentile/fraction of level ranking was computed for each given flow...

This data release contains the D-score (version 0.1) daily streamflow performance benchmark results for the National Water Model (NWM) Retrospective version 2.1 computed at streamgage benchmark locations (version 1) as defined by Foks and others (2022). Model error was determined by evaluating predicted daily mean streamflow (aggregated from an hourly timestep) versus observed daily mean streamflow. Using those errors, the D-score performance benchmark computes the mean squared logarithmic error (MSLE), then decomposes the overall MSLE into orthogonal components such as bias, distribution, and sequence (Hodson and others, 2021). For easier interpretation, the MSLE components can be passed through a scoring function...
ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
