Geoscientific collections managed by California Geological Survey are aggregated in the National Digital Catalog to enhance discovery and use of valuable samples and data for further scientific research. Contact information and material access instructions are provided for the individual collections.
This collection contains select mine and mineral occurrence locations and geologic descriptions in California. These datasets were compiled using descriptions from previously published research and investigations by the California Geological Survey, formerly the California Division of Mines and Geology, the California Division of Mines, and the California State Mining Bureau. This collection also includes information from historical publications by the United States Geological Survey and the former United States Bureau of Mines.

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
