Over 300 samples were collected in New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts from wastewater treatment facilities (20 locations), drinking water facilities (9 locations), streams (53 locations), lakes (2 locations), a bay (1 location), and a POCIS (Polar Organic Chemical Integrative Sampler) blank sample between April 2009 and October 2018. This data release provides chemistry data for over 400 analytes, including pharmaceuticals, hormones, personal care and domestic use compounds, pesticides and other compounds using 10 different laboratory analytical methods on water, sediment, wastewater sludge, and POCIS samples. Quality assurance data, such as equipment and field blank data and percent recovery for isotopic dilution...

These datasets present offstream water use estimates from 2010 which are aggregated to the 8-digit (subbasin) and 12-digit (subwatershed) hydrologic unit level for the Delaware River Basin. The data support USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2015-5142.

This folder contains water-level recovery data for selected hydraulic tests that support USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2020-5087, "Transmissivity Estimated from Brief Pumping Tests of Domestic Wells and Compared with Bedrock Lithofacies and Position on Hillsides in the Appalachian Plateau of New York." These data are part of a data release that contains observed water-level recovery data in 52 wells, matched to theoretical type curves defined by postulated values of aquifer transmissivity and storage, that together constitute the database for USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2020-5087. The water-level recovery data were collected after 13 to 132 seconds of pumping. Five of the wells were also test-pumped...

Background For effective wellhead protection, the area where water carrying potential contaminants can enter the groundwater system and flow to the supply well must first be defined, and then best management practices need to be implemented to minimize the opportunity for contamination to occur in areas defined as sources of water to the well. Determination of the sources of water and contributing areas to wells is complex because aquifers and their connection with recharge sources are heterogeneous in nature and hidden from direct observation. The major groundwater source for public supplies in upstate New York are valley-fill aquifers of glacial and post-glacial origin. Saturated coarse-grained sediments (sand...

This dataset contains the areas of surficial sand and gravel with water-resource potential within the study area. The delineated areas are the largest areas of glaciofluvial sand and gravel with known or inferred thicknesses of saturated sand and gravel that might be sufficient for water supply. This digital dataset is the result of a study to investigate the hydrogeology of the Fairport-Lyons channel and inter-drumlin aquifer system and to map the extent of the glacial aquifers in southern Wayne County, New York; it supports USGS SIR 2021-5086, "Hydrogeology of aquifers within the Fairport-Lyons channel system and adjacent areas in Wayne, Ontario, and Seneca Counties, New York."
