A physiographically prominent, approximately 40 square km plateau lies roughly 20 km east of Mount Spurr volcano, northwestern Cook Inlet region, Alaska, and comprises the preserved remnant of a volcaniclastic succession, designated in this study as map unit Qvc. Although this readily mappable package of volcaniclastic rocks has been recognized in numerous studies during the past five decades, uncertainties regarding its age and origin have persisted. We describe the general characteristics of the volcaniclastic plateau, provide new age constraints for deposits, present lithofacies descriptions and interpretations of the volcaniclastic strata, and synthesize our observations and lithofacies analysis to propose an...

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geological Surveys (DGGS) personnel collected rock samples while conducting stratigraphic studies in the Beluga and Sterling Fomrations in the Homer area of Cook Inlet.Funding for this stratigraphic work was provided by Benchmark Oil and Gas, Pioneer Natural Resources, Chevron North American Exploration and production Company, and the State of Alaska. This data set conveys information about samples collected during fieldwork in the Homer area of Cook Inlet.Samples were collected from outcrops for Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) analyses.Analytical data from these rock samples are tabulated in this publication.

Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle (640 square kmequivalent to four 7.5 minute quadrangles). This mapping project reinterprets micropaleontologic correlations for 17 Sagavanirktok Quadrangle wells, and reprocesses data from the one publicly-available seismic line. Surface geologic mapping, subsurface-to-surface stratigraphic age control, and seismic framework are required to reliably decipher the complex geology of this key area of the Brooks Range. Outcrops within the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle are the closest surface expressions of Prudhoe Bay source and reservoir rocks. This study yields critical petroleum-related...

Detailed facies analysis is presented for the Nanushuk Formation in outcrop in the central North Slope. Facies associations are interpreted and described. Simplified measured sections are presented along with detailed segments of measured sections to illustrate facies and facies association stacking patterns.

The 1:63,360 Kavik River geologic map area consists of ~620 square miles and ties together previous DGGS mapping in the Sadlerochit and Shublik Mountains area of the western Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) on the east and the structurally complex foothills and mountain front near the Kemik gas accumulation on the west. The map area exposes a unique intersection of North Slope stratigraphy where all three major depositional megasequences are mappable in close association (Ellesmerian, Beaufortian, and Brookian).
