The data presented include concentrations of 122 organic, 23 inorganic constituents, and estrogenicity in water collected from 13 off-stream non-point source sites (natural and created wetlands) and eight on-stream point source sites (streams and impoundments) in the New Jersey Pinelands, 2017-2020. Native and non-native fish health data collected from the on-stream sites as well as native frog data collected from the off-stream sites are also included. For the on-stream point-source component, we analyzed water chemistry, hormone activity, and collected native and non-native fish from two locations upstream and one downstream from two municipal wastewater treatment plants (six total sites) and from two minimally...

Coastal communities are uniquely vulnerable to sea-level rise (SLR) and severe storms such as hurricanes. These events enhance the dispersion and concentration of natural and anthropogenic chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms that could adversely affect the health and resilience of coastal communities and ecosystems in coming years. The U.S. Geological Survey has developed the Sediment-Bound Contaminant Resiliency and Response (SCoRR) strategy to define baseline and post-event sediment-bound environmental health (EH) stressors. These data document toxicity measured by reduction of the light emission of Aliivibrio (formerly Photobacterium) fischeri and the inhibition of polymerase chain reactions caused by environmental...

This data release contains coastal wetland synthesis products for the geographic region of Hudson Valley and New York City, New York. Metrics for resiliency, including unvegetated to vegetated ratio (UVVR), marsh elevation, and mean tidal range, are calculated for smaller units delineated from a Digital Elevation Model, providing the spatial variability of physical factors that influence wetland health. Through scientific efforts initiated with the Hurricane Sandy Science Plan, the U.S. Geological Survey has been expanding national assessment of coastal change hazards and forecast products to coastal wetlands with the intent of providing Federal, State, and local managers with tools to estimate the vulnerability...

This data set is comprised of four files related to the biosurveillance of low pathogenic avian influenza viruses (LPAIV) in migratory waterfowl at 22 locations in the Maryland portion of the Delmarva Peninsula in fall/winter of 2013-2014. Two files contain data related to the species, age, and AIV prevalence for all birds sampled (1 data file, 1 definitions file). The other two files contain data related to the primers and standards used in bioassays for AIVs (1 data file, 1 definitions file).

The data was gathered to document the extent and severity of biomarkers of exposure to estrogenic chemicals in smallmouth and largemouth bass. Samples were collected from 2004 through 2010 at sites in five watersheds within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. A total of 281 largemouth bass were collected from the Potomac, Susquehanna, Patuxent and Rappahannock rivers and 1,384 smallmouth bass from the Potomac, Susquehanna and James. Fish were collected by boat electroshocking, euthanized in the field, weighed, measured, a blood samples collected and a necropsy completed that included documenting any visible abnormalities and collecting tissues for histopathology. Plasma obtained from blood samples was analyzed for vitellogenin,...
