Invasive annual grasses are a primary, serverre, and challenging threat to habitat conservation and restoration for sge-dependent wildlife across federal, state and private lands. Successful management solutions for sagebrush ranglands vary and require an integrated approach involving some sequence of interventions such as herbicides, seeding of competitive natives that also create habitat, and temporarily alter land use such as grazing, in an adaptive-management approach. Future scenario occupancy for the Western bumble bee species status assessment
Project the future probability of occupancy of WBB in the continental U.S. based on changing temperature and precipitation for 2055 and 2085, across scenarios representing levels of the other most important stressors to Western bumblebees (e.g., status quo pesticide use, reduced pesticide use; status quo habitat, reduced habitat based on future development projections). Based on occupancy predictions and a bootstrap approach, enumerate the number and location of populations (defined based on grid cells as in prior bumble bee SSAs) across the distribution in the continental U.S. under the above scenarios. Update GPFHP information used to develop priority watersheds
This project will revise existing priority protection and restoration watersheds for 5-7 aquatic guilds and 4-8 priority aquatic species across the Grassland Ecosystem. The project will utilize and update the original model platform used to create the first priorities for the Great Plains Fish Habitat Partnership (GPFHP) in 2011 and utilize input from the Partners Council fishery experts of the GPFHP, which is composed of twenty state and federal agencies and nonprofits focused on aquatic conservation in the Great Plains.
