Collection of photographs taken during PRISM field work on the Yukon Delta. Photos include those taken of habitat within rapid survey plots (usually taken at the northwest corner of the rapid survey plot boundary), other photos taken within survey plots, completed datasheets, and by crew members.
Directories include YKD_PRISM_plot_photos, YKD_PRISM_datasheet_photos, YKD_PRISM_other_plot_photos, and YKD_PRISM_crew_photos.
A portion of these data are available on ServCat (https://ecos.fws.gov/ServCat/Reference/Profile/57583).
Much of these data have been published in Lyons, J.E., S.C. Brown, S.T. Saalfeld, J.A. Johnson, B.A. Andres, K.M. Sowl, R.E. Gill, Jr., B.J. McCaffery, L.R. Kidd, M. McGarvey, B. Winn, H.R. These data do not represent all locations within the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge where specific avian species may be present, as surveys only occurred in discrete survey plots. Additionally, individual birds may have went undetected within survey plots, as detectability was likely less than 100%, and is a function of many variables, including differences in species, habitat, time-of-year, weather conditions, survey effort, and individual surveyor. The data providers have invested considerable effort in QA/QC, but it is possible that undetected errors remain. It is strongly recommended that careful attention be paid to the contents of the metadata file associated with these data to evaluate data set limitations, restrictions or intended use. The originators of this dataset shall not be held liable for improper or incorrect use of the data described and/or contained herein.
Potential users of these data should first contact the data authors listed below, as potential biases may occur within the data depending on the intended use. Therefore, potential users should contact the data authors to discuss intended use and how these data may or may not be applicable.

YKD_PRISM_plot_photos: photographs of habitat within plots. Naming convention for each photo is plot_ID_PRISM_year_photo description. Possible photo descriptions include: ‘NW’ = habitat photo taken at northwest corner of the plot, ‘NE’ = habitat photo taken a northeast corner of the plot, ‘SE’ = habitat photo taken at southeast corner of the plot, ‘SW’ = habitat photo taken at southwest corner of the plot, ‘habitat’ = additional habitat photo taken elsewhere on the plot – sometimes followed by reference to location drawn on field map or other description. If more than one photo was taken at a plot corner (i.e., photos were taken in more than one direction), a number was added to the end of the photo description, with each photo numbered sequentially. Additionally, if more than one photo was taken of habitat elsewhere in the plot and no additional information was included (e.g., reference to map location), a number was added to the end of the photo description, with each photo numbered sequentially.
YKD_PRISM_datasheet_photos: photographs of completed and proofed datasheets. Naming convention for each file is plotID_PRISM_year_photo description. Possible photo descriptions include: ‘data’ = rapid survey plot summary form - used in 2015, ‘datamap’ = rapid survey shorebird spot map - used in 2015, ‘PlotSummary’ = rapid survey plot summary form - used in 2016, ‘HabitatMap’ = rapid survey habitat map - used in 2016, ‘SpotMap’ = rapid survey shorebird spot map - used in 2016.
YKD_PRISM_other_plot_photos: other photographs taken on plots during surveys. Naming convention for each file is plotID_PRISM_year_photo description.
YKD_PRISM_crew_photos: other photographs taken during surveys. There is no naming convention for these photos.
