The goal of this research is to provide a complete characterization of the need for and types of assistance to private nonindustrial forest landowners that would enable them to successfully enhance carbon sequestration and storage on their lands, either by participating in carbon markets or taking advantage of nonmarket mechanisms that etrueist to reward them for doing so. It will also identify gaps and opportunities in assistance programs that could help increase landowner participation in carbon-oriented forest management.
