Summary

Wildlife carcasses recorded by Montana Department of Transportation, Idaho Department of Fish & Game, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service were aggregated to the nearest mile marker for major roads of the U.S. Northern Rockies. WGA connectivity flowlines were intersected with the road network and attributed to the nearest mile marker, along with their connectivity ranking, which indicates their expected relative importance to maintaining westwide connectivity. LCC Network Data Steward(Point of Contact)

Purpose

This dataset is intended to allow practitioners in a variety of roles (transportation planning, public land and wildlife management, private land management, conservation planning, and wildlife advocacy) to explore general patterns in the frequency wildlife road mortalities across the U.S. Northern Rockies, and to explore frequencies observed at a given site of interest, along with potential risk factor values observed at a given site. This information is expected to help practitioners interested in engaging in the process of mitigation road impacts on wildlife to identify potential priority sites that are consistent with the goals and mission of their particular agency or organization.
