Summary

For the Minute 319 pulse flow, electromagnetic induction surveys were carried out jointly by the USGS and UABC-CICESE. Measurements were made at 5 m intervals and transect lengths ranged from 55 m to 200 m.

Purpose

Electromagnetic induction (EMI) was used to investigate particle-size distribution (which is related to hydraulic conductivity) in soil and river sediment to a depth of about 15 m at 7 transects in the limitrophe reach. EMI transects were co-located with vegetation transects in order to provide biologists with the soil information needed to understand and predict seedling growth and establishment.
