Summary

This data set represents the mean annual average for the Rainfall and Runoff factor ("R factor" of Universal Soil Loss Equation) for the period 1971-2000 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data were produced by the PRISM Group at Oregon State University. Units for the Rainfall and Runoff factor are hundreds of foot-ton force-inch/acre-hour per year. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated [...]

Purpose

This data set was created by the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Water-Quality Assessment Project (NWQP) specifically to estimate the mean annual average for the Rainfall and Runoff factor ("R factor" of Universal Soil Loss Equation) for the period 1971-2000 per NHDPlusv2 reach catchment and upstream river network to support statistical analysis, map display, and model parameterization.
