Summary
Before the year 2001 there was no comprehensive hydrological dataset for the Yukon River Basin. Between 2000-2005 the USGS conducted the first comprehensive examination of water quality in the Yukon Basin. The YRITWC worked directly with the USGS to streamline the USGS study and protocol, to make a smooth transition to a YRITWC led study, using a Community Participatory Approach, at the end of the 5 year USGS study. In 2006 the ADEC conducted a two week field campaign examining the baseline biogeochemisty of the Tanana River. Summary

Results from the nine years of baseline, 2007 Healing Journey profile, and the ADEC Tanana River survey showed that the Tanana-Yukon confluence has a significant influence on water chemistry of the Yukon main-stem. The 2009 synoptic survey was designed to participate in the EPA National Rivers and Streams Assessment and collect data for determining how the Yukon main-stem is effected by the Tanana River. The survey was completed during a two week field campaign between July 5-18, 2009. This report outlines the methods used, observed results and discussion of the results. This report is being published on the web in a draft form to allow for adequate time to process the habitat results. The (habitat) data results will be available in the updated and final report in the summer of 2011. This web report is confined to outlining the methods used and raw hydrologic data. The discussion section will be amended as the raw habitat results are finished with the quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) protocol. The amended section will include a discussion on the hydrologic and habitat data.
