Summary
This table is a crosswalk or lookup table that classifies rock type (surface geology) by its permeability, or the ability to pass substances, such as liquids or gases. The rock types that are classified are located in the Northwest U.S. -- Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, and Montana.

Purpose
This work provides end users with a useful classification of surface geology into categories of permeability. This table was used in the recent Probability of Streamflow Permanence Model (PROSPER) to develop continuous parameter grids (CPGs) of permeability and impermeability that were two of the predictor variables in the model.
