ABSTRACT: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is preparing two Species Status Assessments (SSAs) for springsnails in Nye County, White Pine County, and Elko County in Nevada. Much of the past research on springsnails has focused on taxonomy and distribution, that is, which species of springsnail can be found in which spring. In order to complete the SSAs, however, the USFWS requires data on the relative abundance of springsnails, the current ecological condition and water quality of each spring, and any actual or potential stressors that threaten the springsnails’ habitats.
