The main objective of this project was to develop a dataset of large, anthropogenic barriers that are spatially linked to the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) for the conterminous U.S. and the high resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) for Alaska (1:63,000 scale) and Hawaii (1:24,000 scale) to facilitate GIS analyses based on the NHDPlusV1/NHD and NID datasets. This ArcGIS Map Package contains information on brook trout occupancy in the southern portion of the brook trout range (PA and south). Fish sample data from a number of state and federal agencies/organizations were used to define patches for brook trout as groups of occupied contiguous catchment polygons from the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) catchment GIS layer. After defining patches, NHDPlusV1 catchments were assigned occupancy codes. Then state and federal agencies reviewed patches and codes to verify data accuracy. A similar effort is currently being conducted by the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture to develop occupancy data for the remainder of the brook trout range including states...

The boundary was originally developed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and was updated in 2013 to reflect revisions from the Matanuska Susitna Basin Salmon Habitat Partnership, a recognized Fish Habitat Partnership (FHP) of the National Fish Habitat Partnership.

The metrics include information on geology, hydrology, landcover, stewardship, topography, soil types and characteristics, stream characteristics, connectivity, and watershed position (information on where a stream segment or catchment is located in relationship to other segments or catchments; e.g. distance from a catchment to the mouth of the Colorado River, Shreve Link). A mobile application to collect nationally consistent data of fish passage barriers in the United States to meet needs for hydrologic and ecological assessments and conservation planning decisions.
This dataset was replaced in 2020 with data services. The DOI now points to the newest and recommended version of this information. This shapefile displays and describes National Fish Habitat Partnership project locations. The included projects were extracted from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fisheries Information Structure (FIS) on July 2013. Project centerpoints were verified and corrected as needed by Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission staff where data were available by comparing location descriptions in the project attributes with satellite imagery.
