Core Habitat for Imperiled Species is one of a suite of products from the Nature’s Network project (naturesnetwork.org). Nature’s Network is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conservation in the Northeast, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural areas they inhabit. This product represents a regional network of the most intact of habitats estimated to be most important for sustaining populations of imperiled species, currently based on over 600 Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN).A number of additional datasets that augment or complement Core Habitat for Imperiled Species, including Habitat Condition for Imperiled Species (the more extensive dataset from...

This dataset was last updated February 2017. This version incorporates a revised version of the land cover classification, Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1 developed by the University of Massachusetts, which included the addition of The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast lakes and ponds classification. The Brown-headed Nuthatch (Sitta pusilla) is a small songbird endemic to the southeastern United States, with a range extending north to Delaware. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use mature pine forests and pine plantations. This dataset depicts the potential capability of the landscape throughout the Northeastern United States to provide...

The Eastern Box Turtle (Terapene carolina) is the most terrestrial turtle of the Northeast, found in forests from southern New England to northern Florida. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use moist hardwood and mixed forests. This dataset depicts the potential capability of the landscape throughout the Northeastern United States to provide...

This version incorporates a revised version of the land cover classification, Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1 developed by the University of Massachusetts, which included the addition of The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast lakes and ponds classification. The Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) is a medium-sized brown grouse found in forests from Alaska to Georgia. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use mixed aged forests, including young forests. This dataset depicts the potential capability of the landscape throughout the Northeastern United States to provide habitat for Ruffed Grouse based on...

This dataset is a component of a complete package of products from the Connect the Connecticut project. Connect the Connecticut is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conserving the Connecticut River Watershed for future generations, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural ecosystems they inhabit. Click here to download the full data package, including all documentation. This dataset represents the selection index used to create aquatic ecosystem-based cores. The selection index is a continuous surface in which every cell is assigned a value (0-1) based on its relative ecological integrity within each HUC6 watershed. Specifically, the selection index is equal to the...

Connect the Connecticut is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conserving the Connecticut River Watershed for future generations, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural ecosystems they inhabit. Click here to download the full data package, including all documentation. This dataset represents the regional conductance index, which is a measure of the total potential amount of movement of plants and animals (ecological flow) through a cell from nearby terrestrial core areas at the scale of a few to ten kilometers. Regional conductance increases with the size and proximity...

Connect the Connecticut is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conserving the Connecticut River Watershed for future generations, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural ecosystems they inhabit. Click here to download the full data package, including all documentation. This dataset represents the integrated probability of development between 2010-2080 based on a custom urban growth model that accounts for the type (low intensity, medium intensity and high intensity), amount and spatial pattern of development. This index represents the probability of development...

This file describes a set of outputs from the Sea Level Affecting Marshes Model (SLAMM), which consists of rasters containing SLAMM’s coastal cover categories (classes) for a study area on the Gulf of Mexico (U.S.) coast. The model was used to simulate the impact of sea level rise (SLR) on these coastal cover classes, with an emphasis on wetlands, for the “Evaluation of Regional SLAMM Results to Establish a Consistent Framework of Data and Models” project. The project was performed by Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc., and Image Matters LLC. The project was funded by the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC). A coordinated network of landscape conservation cooperatives (each an “LCC”) is being...

These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center's efforts to create an onlinemapping viewer depicting potential sea level rise and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping vieweris to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at sea level rise (slr) and coastal flooding impacts. The viewer is ascreening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses.Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to helpgauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer may be accessed at:http://www.csc.noaa.gov/slrThese...
