Static flood inundation boundary extents were created along the entire shoreline of Lake Ontario in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, and Wayne Counties in New York by using recently acquired (2007, 2010, 2014, and 2017) light detection and ranging (lidar) data. The flood inundation maps, accessible through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Program website at https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/flood-inundation-mapping-fim-program, depict estimates of the areal extent and water depth of shoreline flooding in 8 segments corresponding to adjacent water-surface elevations (stages) at 8 USGS lake gages on Lake Ontario. This item includes data sets for segment C - Lake Ontario...

These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center's efforts to create an online mapping viewer depicting potential sea level rise and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping viewer is to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at sea level rise (slr) and coastal flooding impacts. The viewer is a screening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses.Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to help gauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer may be accessed at: http://www.csc.noaa.gov/slr...

These heatmaps show a top 3 stressor or service, as ranked by participants, and the concentration of participants who reported as working in each municipality or county who also voted for that stressor or service across the landscape. This map shows the percentage of participants from each county and municipality who ranked Trespass Livestock as a top 3 ecosystem stressor in the Montane Invasive Animal category in their region. Symbology represents the percentage of participants with 0% = dark green, 0.0001 % - 24.99% = light green, 25% - 49.99% = yellow, 50% - 74.99% = orange, 75% - 100% = red. All counties and municipalities identified by participants as areas where they work were given a tally for each of the...

Landforms along the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic coastlines for the conterminous United States are attributed with the relative vulnerability of horizontal erosion due to sea-level rise to characterize coastal zone stability. The position and extent of landforms are geospatially indexed as line-events where these coastal zone features are intersected by the linear-referenced 2013 - 2014 U.S. Geological Survey National Hydrography Dataset Coastline, which corresponds to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 2013 - 2014 mean high water level datum delineated in intertidal zones open to oceans, behind barrier coasts in bays, lagoons, and estuaries, and sometimes where tidal currents reach...

This shapefile contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the California Fish Passage Forum. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the boundary of the California Fish Passage Forum. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled;...

This shapefile contains landscape factors representing potential human disturbances to river systems summarized in 12-digit USGS hydrological units (HUC12s) for the Kenai Peninsula Fish Habitat Partnership. This dataset is the result of clipping the shapefile for 'National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP) 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for Alaska linked to HUC12s' to the boundary of the Kenai Peninsula Fish Habitat Partnership. Variables include land uses, barriers to fish movement, landing strips/airports, mines, point-source pollutant sites, and infrastructure like pipelines, railroads, and roads. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to HUC12s were identified as being: (1) meaningful...

This dataset contains vegetation and land cover information for Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge. It was created by visual interpretation and classification of aerial photography (National Agriculture Imagery Program) acquired in August 2014. Specifically, the NAIP imagery was segmented into polygons using eCognition Developer 9.0 software. Each segment was then classified by visually interpreting the aerial imagery. The interpretation process was facilitated by field data and geotagged field photos that were taken on the property in October 2014. No accuracy assessment was performed due to a limitation in the number of available ground control points.

This product was derived from a clipped portion of the ~3m spatial resolution National Elevation Dataset. The National Elevation Dataset (NED) is the primary elevation data product produced and distributed by the USGS. The NED provides the best available public domain raster elevation data of the conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and territorial islands in a seamless format. The NED is derived from diverse source data, processed to a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. All NED data are distributed in geographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are provided in units of meters, and are referenced...

Problem The quality of surface water has important effects on human and ecological health. Surface water is an important drinking water source and is used for swimming, fishing, and recreation, and the quality of surface water can have profound effects on the health, diversity, and resilience of ecological communities. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is tasked by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to monitor ambient water quality of the State. The NYSDEC is also tasked to develop Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for state waters that fail to meet their intended use. A critical first step in maintaining high quality of surface-water is assessment of existing...
