A vented conductivity, temperature and depth sensor (CTD, InSitu Aqua Troll) was installed at site NR3 (N 47° 05’ 12”/W 122° 42’ 22”) and continuously measured water level, water temperature, specific conductance, and salinity at 15-minute intervals from February 12, 2016 to August 7, 2016 (177 days) and from October 7, 2016 to February 8, 2017 (124 days). This site is tidally influenced and located approximately 2.2 km upstream from the mouth of the Nisqually River. Elevation (NAVD88) of the deployment pipe was surveyed by RTN-GPS. Multiple sensors for measuring stage (water level), water temperature, specific conductivity, turbidity and water velocity were installed at site NR2 (N 47° 04' 46.1"/W 122° 42' 30.2"), located approximately 3.1 km upstream from the mouth of the Nisqually River and within the tidal prism. This GIS layer predicts annual increases in water yield in gallons/acre when going from a longleaf stand that hasn’t been burned for 10+ years to one with a burn within the last 6 years. It uses PRISM data for precipitation, MODIS data for potential evapotranspiration, and field data from North Florida to estimate difference in evapotranspiration based on fire return interval. A suite of subglacial water-pressure records from the 1996 summer field season at Trapridge Glacier, Yukon Territory, Canada, discloses a hydraulic event that cannot readily be explained by known forcings. We suggest that these records indicate covert failure of the pressure sensors caused by at least one large water-pressure pulse. The sign and magnitude of the pulse appears to have varied spatially and the pulse duration was less than the 2 min sampling interval of our data loggers. Laboratory experiments support this interpretation and indicate that the pulse magnitude exceeded 900 m of hydraulic head, roughly 15 times the ice-overburden pressure.
