8 aerial photographs were taken along the Little Missouri River in 1958. All images were geo-referenced to the 1995 digital orthophoto quarter quadrangles as described by Miller and Friedman (2009). Both the flood plain and active channel of the river were delineated on the 1995 digital orthophoto quadrangles and overlaid on rectified photos. ArcGIS was used to draw the polygons that delineate the flood plain and active channel; the delineation was saved as a SHP file. The separate images (geoTIFFs) can be viewed as a composite along with that year's channel delineation (SHP file) using a geographic information system (GIS) application. Reference: Miller, J.R., and J.M. Friedman. 2009. Influence of flow variability...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, produced this data release that includes vector and raster geographic information systems layers used in the analysis and publication of a mean annual runoff and annual runoff variability map for 1940–2007 for Oklahoma. The data release covers all 69 8-digit hydrologic units with at least 1 square mile of area in Oklahoma; those 8-digit hydrologic units contain 2,870 12-digit hydrologic units that provided the geographic framework for the analysis described in the companion map report (USGS Scientific Investigations Map 3482). The mean annual runoff and annual runoff variability values presented in this data release are most...

Actual ET (ETa) is produced using the operational Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEBop) model (Senay and others, 2013) for the period 2000 to present. The SSEBop setup is based on the Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEB) approach (Senay and others, 2007, 2011) with unique parameterization for operational applications. It combines ET fractions generated from remotely sensed MODIS thermal imagery, acquired every 8 days, with reference ET using a thermal index approach. The unique feature of the SSEBop parameterization is that it uses pre-defined, seasonally dynamic, boundary conditions that are unique to each pixel for the hot/dry and cold/wet reference points. This summary of the SSEBop ET dataset was created...

Using data from 288 adult and yearling female elk that were captured on 22 Wyoming winter supplemental elk feedgrounds and monitored with GPS collars, we fit Step Selection Functions (SSFs) during the spring abortion season and then implemented a master equation approach to translate SSFs into predictions of daily elk distribution for 5 plausible winter weather scenarios (from a heavy snow, to an extreme winter drought year). We then predicted abortion events by combining elk distributions with empirical estimates of daily abortion rates, spatially varying elk seroprevalence, and elk population counts. Here we provide the predicted abortion events on a daily basis at a 500m resolution for the 5 different weather...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) computed rasters of pre-solved values for the watersheds draining to the pixel delineation point representing the watershed's mean maximum 30-minute precipitation occurring on average once in 2 years from NOAA Atlas 14. These values will be served in the National StreamStats Fire-Hydrology application to describe delineated watersheds ( https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ ). The StreamStats application provides access to spatial analysis tools that are useful for water-resources planning and management, and for engineering and design purposes. The map-based user interface can be used to delineate drainage areas, to retrieve basin characteristics, to estimate flow statistics, and more.

Summary This data release contains postprocessed model output from simulations of hypothetical rapid motion of landslides, subsequent wave generation, and wave propagation. A modeled tsunami wave was generated by rapid motion of unstable material into Barry Arm Fjord. This wave propagated through Prince William Sound and then into Passage Canal east of Whittier. Here we consider only the largest wave-generating scenario presented by Barnhart and others (2021a, 2021b) and use a simulation setup similar to that work. The results presented here are not identical to those presented in Barnhart and others (2021a, 2021b) because the results in this data release were obtained using an expanded dataset of topography and...

Understanding how sea-level rise will affect coastal landforms and the species and habitats they support is critical for crafting approaches that balance the needs of humans and native species. Given this increasing need to forecast sea-level rise effects on barrier islands in the near and long terms, we are developing Bayesian networks to evaluate and to forecast the cascading effects of sea-level rise on shoreline change, barrier island state, and piping plover habitat availability. We use publicly available data products, such as lidar, orthophotography, and geomorphic feature sets derived from those, to extract metrics of barrier island characteristics at consistent sampling distances. The metrics are then incorporated...

During the spring of 2001, water levels were measured in 427 wells in the Sparta-Memphis aquifer in Arkansas and the Sparta aquifer in Louisiana. Water-quality samples were collected for temperature and specific-conductance measurements during the spring and summer of 2001 from 150 wells in Arkansas in the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. Dissolved chloride samples were collected and analyzed for 87 of the 150 wells. Water-quality samples were not collected in Louisiana. Maps of areal distribution of potentiometric surface, difference in water-level measurements from 1997 to 2001, and specific conductance generated from these data reveal spatial trends across the study area. The highest water-level altitude measured in Arkansas...
