Waterfowl Breeding Population Habitat Survey Alaska Annual Survey Reports This collection comprises the annual reports, produced by MBM-Alaska, which summarize the WBPHS_AK survey data, including estimates of population abundance and trend by species. Hodges, FWS-MBM-Alaska, retired) to record bird data and capture the survey flight track. Each observer had their own computer and obtained their own separate flight track each day. The track was recorded by capturing a GPS location every 5 seconds as long as the survey software was running. The software was started at some time between the aircraft’s engine start and the first transect, and was shut down at some time between the last transect and engine shut-down. Among other things, the QC process removed records of certain non-waterfowl species, and it changed some species codes to meet the MBM-Alaska Waterfowl Program’s standardized format for transect waterfowl surveys. The QC dataset is that which MBM-Alaska uses for analyses and is considered the most appropriate for sharing with other users. This collection of files comprises the QC WBPHS_AK bird-observation data. There is one file for each year and observer: WBPHS_YYYY_QCObs_OOO.csv, where YYYY=Year and OOO=Observer initials.
