The Quartz Valley Indian Reservation will partner with tribes, federal agencies and higher education institutions in the Klamath Basin on a tribal youth intern program for the summer of 2014. This project will provide a comprehensive synthesis of beaver recolonization science and techniques for successful reintroduction or population expansion through a thorough, in-depth, coordinated review of all North American beaver-related information, including identification of research gaps and data needs, and recommendations for project implementation. This information will be disseminated through a series of one-day workshops.

The Humboldt Bay-Eel River region may experience the highest rate of relative sea level rise increase along the West Coast. The Project will engage stakeholders to discuss community and science needs for planning and implementing adaptation measures to sea level rise. The Project is a critical step in developing an ecosystem based-management (EBM) approach to guide the protection, management, enhancement, adaptation, restoration, and possible redistribution of Humboldt Bay-Eel River Delta habitats under future climate scenarios. This process will be informed by the best-available science, the needs of Humboldt Bay-Eel River Delta agricultural producers, and other community members.

The Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center (ACRC) held a symposium titled “Coastal Temperate Rainforests: Integrating Science, Resource Management, and Communities” on April 17‐19, 2012, in Juneau, Alaska. The intent of this project was to create a directory of academic climate change scientists that focus on the North Pacific Coast of North America—including California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alaska. The University of Washington developed the California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho portion of the directory and Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center developed the British Columbia and Alaska portion of the directory.
