The depths to a high and average water table below the land surface were estimated across the Clover Creek watershed in Pierce County, Washington. Groundwater model simulations provided initial estimates of water-table depths for the analysis. To provide optimized, data-driven estimates of these depths, a continuous bias correction surface was applied to model output according to differences between simulated and observed water levels at observation wells.

Historical water and gas chemistry data from geothermal areas are important for detecting long-term patterns, informing geothermal energy exploration, development, and use, and for contextualizing more recent data. The U.S. Geological survey has published water and gas chemistry data from geothermal areas in the western United States, which is primarily available as scanned PDF files. This makes the data difficult to access or include in large-scale data analysis. This data release provides digitized and reformatted data from 20 previously published U.S. Geological Survey Open-File reports and journal articles, representing 1867 water chemistry samples and 313 gas chemistry samples. All data have been standardized...

Of the approximately 6.6 million people living in the Mississippi embayment (MISE) region in the central United States, approximately 65 percent rely on groundwater for their drinking water (Dieter, Linsey, and others, 2017). Regional assessments of water quality in principal aquifer systems provide context for the long-term availability of these water resources for drinking-water supplies. To assess the current (2018) status of water quality in MISE in relation to drinking water supplies, groundwater withdrawal zones used for domestic and public supply were modeled using available groundwater well and hydrogeologic framework data. Three dimensional surfaces were modeled to map the depth zones at which groundwater...

This data release contains information to support water quality modeling in the Delaware River Basin (DRB). These data support both process-based and machine learning approaches to water quality modeling, including the prediction of stream temperature. This section provides spatial data files that describe the rivers, reservoirs, and observational data in the Delaware River Basin included in this release. One shapefile of polylines describes the 459 river reaches that define the modeling network, and another shapefile of polygons includes the three reservoirs (Pepacton, Cannonsville, and Neversink) for which data are included in this release. Additionally, a point shapefile contains locations of monitoring sites...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains data from stream water, groundwater, and soil samples collected in 2019 and 2020 in the North Quartz Creek watershed in central Colorado. Fourteen streambank wells were installed in pairs at seven locations in August 2020 to capture the emerging groundwater from the left bank and right banks (relative to downstream-facing direction) and a synoptic sampling campaign was conducted to quantify metal contributions to the stream. A continuous, instream injection of sodium bromide (NaBr) was initiated at the head of the 5 km study reach several days prior to the synoptic sampling campaign and maintained throughout the duration of the study. Bromide concentrations...

A digital dataset of analog simulation of water-level declines in the Sparta Sand, Mississippi Embayment in Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Mississippi was developed from J.E. Reed's "Analog simulation of water-level declines in the Sparta Sand, Mississippi Embayment" (1972). The plate was georeferenced to North American Datum 1983 and projected to USA Contiguous Albers Equal Conic (U.S. Geological Survey version) projection (standard parallels 29.5 and 45.5 degrees, central meridian -96 degrees, and latitude of origin 23 degrees). Once georeferenced (using ArcMap v 10.4.1), individual potentiometric contours were digitized manually. Figures included in the digital dataset are figures 2...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has compiled national shoreline data for more than 20 years to document coastal change and serve the needs of research, management, and the public. Maintaining a record of historical shoreline positions is an effective method to monitor national shoreline evolution over time, enabling scientists to identify areas most susceptible to erosion or accretion. These data can help coastal managers and planners understand which areas of the coast are vulnerable to change. This data release includes two new mean high water (MHW) shorelines extracted from lidar data collected in 2010 and 2017-2018. Previously published historical shorelines for South Carolina (Kratzmann and others, 2017)...

The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management launched the Shoreline Change Project in 1989 to identify erosion-prone areas of the coast. The shoreline position and change rate are used to inform management decisions regarding the erosion of coastal resources. In 2001, a 1994 shoreline was added to calculate both long- and short-term shoreline change rates at 40-meter intervals along ocean-facing sections of the Massachusetts coast. In 2013 two oceanfront shorelines for Massachusetts were added using 2008-2009 color aerial orthoimagery and 2007 topographic lidar datasets obtained from NOAA's Ocean Service, Coastal Services Center. This 2018 update includes two new mean high water (MHW) shorelines for the Massachusetts...

Between April and August 2009 four water samples were collected from the outflow channel of Old Faithful Geyser in the Upper Geyser Bain, Yellowstone National Park. The samples were collected during the main phase of the eruptions when water flow was at maximum rate. In addition, two samples of stream flow were collected in November 2016 from the Firehole River near the U.S. Geological Survey gaging site at Old Faithful (site ID 06036805) above the Upper Geyser Basin and at Biscuit Basin below the Upper Geyser Basin. Geochemical data released here supplement data from Old Faithful Geyser and other Upper Geyser Basin sites published previously in Hurwitz and others (2012). Samples for major element chemistry were...
