This thematic map illustrates the median value of houses in the United States in 2010. The 2010 median home value is an estimate of home value based on total owner occupied units. This data variable is included in Esri's Updated Demographics (2010/2015). This map shows Esri's 2010 estimates using Census 2000 geographies. The map is designed to be displayed with a 30–50 percent semi-transparency for overlay on other basemaps as noted in the map legend. This map presents the current natural hazards events (hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, etc.) in the United States. This map was developed as part of the United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) Natural Hazards Support System (NHSS) which is available at http://nhss.cr.usgs.gov. But although this application was developed by the USGS, it contains data and information from a variety of public data sources, including non-USGS data. Therefore detailed information about each of these data providers, including specific data source, data currency and disclaimers, is provided at http://nhss.cr.usgs.gov/data.shtml.

This service contains layers based on Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) coordinate data. The locations of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corners, as represented in geographic coordinate pairs, were derived from a variety of source documents, which include U.S. General Land Office and BLM survey plats/notes, as well as survey data obtained from other U.S. Government agencies, private sector survey firms, and local governments. The attributes assigned to PLSS polygons were taken from the BLM's Legal Land Description (LLD) data set, contained within the Legacy Rehost for the year 2000 (LR2000) automated records system. The coordinate data was produced by using control stations of known location, with varying...

This thematic map summarizes racial and ethnic diversity in the United States. The Diversity Index shows the likelihood that two persons chosen at random from the same area, belong to different race or ethnic groups. The index ranges from 0 (no diversity) to 100 (complete diversity). The diversity score for the entire United States in 2010 is 60. This map shows the Soil Survey Geographic (SSURGO) by the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service. It also shows data that was developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey and supersedes the State Soil Geographic (STATSGO) dataset published in 1994. SSURGO digitizing duplicates the original soil survey maps. This level of mapping is designed for use by landowners, townships, and county natural resource planning and management. The user should be knowledgeable of soils data and their characteristics. The smallest scale map shows the Global Soil Regions map by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
This web map provides a watershed index of surface drinking water importance, a watershed index of forest importance to surface drinking water, and a watershed index to highlight the extent to which development, fire, and insects and disease threaten forests important for surface drinking water. This tabular dataset is meant to be joined with the NRCS Watershed Boundary Dataset HUC-12. The results of this assessment provides information that can identify areas of interest for protecting surface drinking water quality. The spatial dataset can be incorporated into broad-scale planning, such as the State Forest Action Plans, and can be incorporated into existing decision support tools that currently lack spatial...

This map presents the terrestrial ecosystems in the conterminous United States, and was developed as part of the United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) effort to model the distribution of terrestrial ecosystems using the geospatial mapping methodology that was developed from a deductive, biophysical stratification approach to delineate ecosystems by their major structural elements (Sayre and others, 2009). Each major structural component of ecosystems (land surface forms, surficial lithology, bioclimates, topographic moisture potential, and so forth) was modeled and then spatially combined to produce a new map of biophysical settings, termed ecosystem structural footprints. These ecosystem structure units characterize...

The USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) service from The National Map is a comprehensive set of digital spatial data that encodes information about naturally occurring and constructed bodies of surface water (lakes, ponds, and reservoirs), paths through which water flows (canals, ditches, streams, and rivers), and related entities such as point features (springs, wells, stream gages, and dams). The information encoded about these features includes classification and other characteristics, delineation, geographic name, position and related measures, a "reach code" through which other information can be related to the NHD, and the direction of water flow. The network of reach codes delineating water and transported...

This map presents land cover and detailed topographic maps for the United States. It uses the USA Topographic Map service. The map includes the National Park Service (NPS) Natural Earth physical map at 1.24km per pixel for the world at small scales, i-cubed eTOPO 1:250,000-scale maps for the contiguous United States at medium scales, and National Geographic TOPO! 1:100,000 and 1:24,000-scale maps (1:250,000 and 1:63,000 in Alaska) for the United States at large scales. The TOPO! maps are seamless, scanned images of United States Geological Survey (USGS) paper topographic maps.

This thematic map illustrates the population density in the United States in 2010. Population density is the number of people per square mile. Population density is calculated by dividing the total population count of geographic feature by the area of the feature, in square miles. USNG is standard that established a nationally consistent grid reference system. It provides a seamless plane coordinate system across jurisdictional boundaries and map scales; it enables precise position referencing with GPS, web map portals, and hardcopy maps. USNG enables a practical system of geoaddresses and a universal map index. This data resides in the GCS 1983 coordinate system and is most suitable for viewing over North America.
