Data presented are results of surveys and monitoring for San Diego Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern San Diego County. These data were collected to assess Cactus Wren population status to determine the relationships between specific elements of habitat quality and Cactus Wren presence. Surveys were conducted periodically at 507 plots throughout San Diego County. Birds that had been banded in prior years with unique color combinations were identified to individual on subsequent visits to provide data on survival and movement and between years.

This dataset contains 20-ft contours for the 2013 Sparta-Memphis aquifer potentiometric-surface map in Arkansas. The potentiometric-surface shows altitudes at which the water levels would have risen in tightly-cased wells and represents conditions during the period from January through May 2013. Groundwater-level data from 306 wells cased completely in and with the screened interval open to the Sparta-Memphis aquifer are publicly available from the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Water Information System.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data were acquired in late February to early March 2018 along 2,364 line-kilometers in the Shellmound, Mississippi study area. Data were acquired by CGG Canada Services, Ltd. with three different helicopter-borne sensors: the CGG Canada Services, Ltd. RESOLVE frequency-domain AEM instrument that is used to map subsurface geologic structure at depths up to 100 meters, depending on the subsurface resistivity; a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (hundreds of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations; and a Radiation Solutions RS-500 spectrometer that detects...

This dataset has been superseded. The most current data for this data release are available here: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/663a5321d34e77890839b050 This dataset includes shorelines from 63 years ranging from 1947 to 2010 for the north coast of Alaska between the Hulahula River and the Colville River. Shorelines were compiled from topographic survey sheets (T-sheets; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)), aerial orthophotographs (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Conoco-Philips (CP), British Petroleum Alaska (BPXA)), satellite imagery (State of Alaska), and lidar elevation data (USGS). Historical shoreline positions serve as easily...

This dataset consists of long-term (70 years) shoreline change rates for the mainland coast of Alaska sheltered by barrier islands from the Hulahula River to the Colville River. Rate calculations were computed within a GIS using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) version 5.1, an ArcGIS extension developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. Long-term rates of shoreline change were calculated using a linear regression rate-of-change method based on available shoreline data between 1947 and 2017. A reference baseline was used as the originating point for the orthogonal transects cast by the DSAS software. The transects intersect each shoreline establishing measurement points, which are then used to calculate...

This dataset consists of short-term (~33 years) shoreline change rates for the north coast of Alaska between the Colville River and Point Barrow. Rate calculations were computed within a GIS using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) version 4.3, an ArcGIS extension developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. Short-term rates of shoreline change were calculated using a linear regression rate-of-change method based on available shoreline data between 1979 and 2012. A reference baseline was used as the originating point for the orthogonal transects cast by the DSAS software. The transects intersect each shoreline establishing measurement points, which are then used to calculate short-term rates.

Cell maps are created by the USGS as a method for illustrating the degree of petroleum exploration, type of production as indicated by final well status, distribution of production and well density in a given area; in this case, covering the SaMiRa project area of interest. Each cell represents a quarter-mile square of the land surface, and the cells are coded to represent whether oil and gas wells included within the cell are predominantly oil-producing, gas-producing, both oil and gas-producing, dry or the type of production of the wells located within the cell is unknown. The well information was initially retrieved from the IHS Energy Enerdeq, which is a proprietary, commercial database containing information...

This dataset is a polyline shapefile containing bathymetric contours, at 1-meter intervals, of Lago Carite, Puerto Rico. The contours were generated from bathymetric data collected during a sedimentation survey conducted during the period January 23 - January 30, 2018 by the Puerto Rico office of the Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The goals of the survey were to determine reservoir infill sedimentation rates, generate a bathymetric map of the reservoir, and create a stage-volume relation. Field techniques used during the survey were similar to those outlined by Soler-López and Carrasquillo-Nieves, (2001) and Wilson and Richards (2006).A total of 137 planned transect...

Locations of focused groundwater seepage to surface water are often hydrologically and ecologically important. Spatially focused or ‘preferential’ seepage can be identified as anomalous cold zones compared to warmer adjacent bank and surface water features (in summer). The temperature of deeper groundwater on Cape Cod is expected to approximate 11 °C year-round, yielding a relatively cold signature where groundwater emerges from the saturated sediment interface. Recent advances in thermal infrared imaging allow efficient real-time scanning for cold anomalies that may be associated with preferential seepage zones, and direct temperature measurements can be collected within the sediments of these zones to better capture...

This dataset contains the eskerform features within the study area. The delineations indicate the axis of the eskerform feature, which indicates a stagnant glacial ice environment. This digital dataset is the result of a study to investigate the hydrogeology of the Fairport-Lyons channel and inter-drumlin aquifer system and to map the extent of the glacial aquifers in southern Wayne County, New York; it supports USGS SIR 2021-5086, "Hydrogeology of aquifers within the Fairport-Lyons channel system and adjacent areas in Wayne, Ontario, and Seneca Counties, New York."
