In 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the National Park Service(NPS), initiated a study using surrogate technology to predict real-time metallic-contaminant concentrations (MCCs) in the Clark Fork at two USGS streamgages that bracket Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site (GRKO) near Deer Lodge, Montana. The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the West Bay Sediment Diversion (MR-03) project for 2021. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Ranegras Plain Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ twice in 2021, first on May 19th and again on September 1st; based on digitized field boundaries. These are data associated with water column incubation experiments performed in the Fox rivermouth. The Fox River is a Lake Michigan tributary that enters Green Bay. These experiments are used to measure the transformation of inorganic and total dissolved nutrients occurring in the surface water of the rivermouth. Experiments had light and dark treatments, and some experiments were paired with experiments where nutrients were increased in initial spikes. Field measurements of water depth were acquired from a reach of the upper American River in California, November 5-7, 2018, to support research on mapping chinook salmon spawning locations (redds) via remote sensing. The depth measurements included in this data release were obtained by wading the shallow channel margins with RTK GPS receivers and measuring water surface elevations along the water's edge and bed elevations within the channel; depths were calculated by subtracting bed elevations from the nearest water surface elevation. Dreissenid management has focused primarily on chemical tools which are efficacious, but not without ecological or economic costs. There is a need for additional control tools that are less expensive, readily available, and will not leave a residue after treatment. Carbon dioxide has these advantages over chemical pesticides and has demonstrated effectiveness for control of a range of aquatic invasive species, including dreissenid mussels. Carbon dioxide was lethal to adult zebra mussels at levels that were safe to juvenile unionid mussels and lower levels cause detachment and gaping. Burnsville Cove in Bath and Highland Counties (Virginia, USA) is a karst region in the Valley and Ridge Province of the Appalachian Mountains. The region contains many caves in Silurian to Devonian limestone, and is well suited for examining geologic controls on cave location and cave passage morphology. In Burnsville Cove, many caves are located preferentially near the axes of synclines and anticlines. Lifespan distribution in the Chesapeake Bay (CB) salt marsh complex is presented in terms of lifespan of conceptual marsh units defined by Ackerman and others (2022). The lifespan calculation is based on estimated sediment supply and sea-level rise (SLR) predictions after Ganju and others (2020). An unmanned aerial system (UAS) was used to acquire red/green/blue (RGB) and hyperspectral image data from the American River in California November 5-7, 2018, to support research on remote sensing of rivers, specifically mapping chinook salmon spawning locations (redds) as part of an overall salmon habitat assessment program. To support research on dispersion in river channels, a tracer dye experiment was performed on the Kootenai River in northern Idaho, September 25-27, 2017. This data release provides in situ field measurements of Rhodamine WT dye concentration acquired during the experiment. This data release catalogs the locations of small-scale diamond and gold mining dredges on the Kadéï (Sangha) River, Central African Republic from the years 2015 to 2019. The Kadéï river flows through the Nola prefecture in the CAR and is known to host placer diamond deposits. The dataset was developed through visual interpretation of 387 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) scenes. The point shapefile contains 1,747 locations of vessels, identified by type as either a dredge, idle vessel, or ferry.

This dataset represents 740 tributary canyons and/or watersheds adjacent to the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with associated debris flow probabilities from 2004. Also, these data include tributarys canyon and/or watersheds to Glen Canyon and several smaller watersheds in Grand Canyon where debris flow data is currently unavailable. Historic probabilities of debris flow occurrence were estimated by modeling the known frequency distribution with drainage basin parameters observed to control the process by which debris flows initiate and travel to the river.
