From July 14-20, 2016, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the City of Ithaca, New York, conducted a bathymetric survey of the Cayuga Inlet flood-control channel and selected mouths of tributaries to Cayuga Inlet and Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, New York. U.S. Geological Survey personnel collected bathymetric data using an acoustic Doppler current profiler. The survey plan generated over 25,000 water depths that were converted to bottom elevations by subtracting the depths from the water-surface elevations recorded by the USGS streamgage, Cayuga Inlet (Cayuga Lake) at Ithaca, N.Y. This data release consists of four Excel files (one for each cross section) containing worksheets corresponding to each channel cross-section survey (~25-31) between 1996 and 2014. These worksheets contain the basic survey data (dates, instruments, reference elevations, foresights, distances from reference pins, and elevations). An additional worksheet contains the measured unit-volume (m^3/m) of chronostratigraphic units deposited during the time interval between two sequential surveys and the unit-volumes of each chronostratigraphic unit eroded during the same time interval. A final worksheet contains the age and transit-time distributions for selected surveys.

This USGS data release contains station and laboratory method information and geospatial information, as well as concentration results for inorganic and organic compounds and bioluminescent yeast estrogen screen and transgenic zebrafish embryo estrogren bioassay, analyzed at 38 sites in 25 states as part of the Chemical Mixtures and Environmental Effects Pilot Study, 2012-2014.

Stream networks with reservoirs provide a particularly hard modeling challenge because reservoirs can decouple physical processes (e.g., water temperature dynamics in streams) from atmospheric signals. Including observed reservoir releases as inputs to models can improve water temperature predictions below reservoirs, but many reservoirs are not well-observed. This data release contains predictions from stream temperature models described in Jia et al. 2022, which describes different deep learning and process-guided deep learning model architectures that were developed to handle scenarios of missing reservoir releases. The U.S. Geological Survey Oregon Water Science Center, in cooperation with The Klamath Tribes initiated a project to understand changes in surface-water prevalence of Klamath Marsh, Oregon and changes in groundwater levels within and surrounding the marsh. The initial phase of the study focused on developing datasets needed for future interpretive phases of the investigation. Field measurements of water depth were acquired from a reach of the American River at Sailor Bar, near Fair Oaks, California, October 19-21, 2020, to support research on remote sensing of water depth from satellite images. Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected by CGG Canada Services Ltd. in collaboration with the USGS for the City of Cedar Rapids in a 53-square-kilometer area of the Cedar River Basin to the west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The survey was flown between May 4 and May 5, 2017 along 347 line kilometers. Electromagnetic data were acquired using RESOLVE frequency-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system. Magnetic data were collected with 1-Scintres Cesium Vapour (CS-3) magnetometer. Sensor elevation above ground was measured with Optech G-150 laser. The nominal elevation of the sensor was 30 m. This data release includes processed AEM and magnetic data and inverted resistivity depth sections.

Water quality point measurements were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey along the lower Willamette River near the cities of Lake Oswego and Wilsonville, Oregon, as well as the lowest two kilometers of the Clackamas River, Molalla River, and Johnson Creek. These measurements were collected in the main channel and off-channel features on discreet dates from April through October of 2017. All measurements include location, time, temperature, and depth below water surface, while many also include specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, and turbidity.

This data release provides measurements of dye concentration collected to support and validate numerical simulations of dispersion on the Kootenai River, downstream of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. On August 13, 2008, at 06:00, 25.4 kilograms of rhodamine WT was diluted using raw river water in a 378.5 liter tank and released as a nearly single slug. The dye was released near River Kilometer (RKM) 239 over a period of 17 minutes. From 06:01 – 06:10 the dye was released at a fairly constant rate, and from 06:10 – 06:18 the dye was released at a slower rate associated with cleaning and rinsing the tank. A steady-state groundwater flow model was developed for watersheds on the north shore of Long Island Sound in coastal Connecticut and adjacent areas of New York and Rhode Island. As part of the analysis, groundwater travel times and the components of the groundwater budget were calculated for each HUC12 basin within the model domain and for the watersheds of selected embayments identified by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Ranegras Plain Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ three times in 2020 first on March 11th, then on May 27th, and finally on August 11th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated 2019 and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed via the U.S. Geological Survey LandLook Viewer (https://landlook.usgs.gov/) and Sentinel Hub, Sentinel Playground (https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/sentinel-playground). Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and suspended-sediment (SS) loads, in Fairfax County, Virginia streams have been calculated using monitoring data from five intensively monitored watersheds for the period from water year (October - September) 2008-2017. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads were computed using a surrogate (multiple-linear regression) approach with lab analyzed N, P, and SS samples as the response variable and basic water-quality parameters (e.g. turbidity, specific conductance, pH, water temperature), streamflow, and time and seasonal terms that could be measured continuously as predictor (surrogate) variables. Efficiency of seepage meters, long considered a fixed property associated with the meter design, is not constant in highly permeable sediments. Instead, results from this study indicate that efficiency varies substantially with seepage-bag fullness, duration of bag attachment, depth of meter insertion into the sediments, and seepage velocity. Efficiency also varies substantially in response to variable hydraulic conductivity. This child data release includes fused topo-bathymetric digital elevation models of the Merced and Tuolumne Rivers in California used to support research on anadromous salmonids. The purpose of this study was to calculate the capacity for reintroduction of salmonids above impassable barriers. Force gage measurements were used to parameterize a force balance model for the initiation of sediment motion and thus characterize bed mobility for two reaches of the lower Merced River in California's Central Valley. This USGS data release presents tabular data of daily and annual (for the 9-month period March 1 through November 30) estimates of concentrations and fluxes of total and dissolved phosphorus, total nitrogen, chloride, and total suspended solids for 18 monitored tributaries of Lake Champlain. Annual estimates of concentration and flux are presented as 9-month data because the frequency and type of sample data from winter months are inadequate for making meaningful wintertime estimates. Streamflow wading measurements were made on March 26, 2014 within the Deer Creek watershed in St. Louis County, Missouri, following U.S. Geological Survey methods in Turnipseed and Sauer (2010). This effort occurred during a date and time void of rainfall or snowmelt runoff to properly evaluate a base-flow condition.
