The USGS Transportation service from The National Map (TNM) is based on TIGER/Line data provided through U.S. Census Bureau and supplemented with HERE road data to create tile cache base maps. Some of the TIGER/Line data includes limited corrections done by USGS. Transportation data consists of roads, railroads, trails, airports, and other features associated with the transport of people or commerce. The data include the name or route designator, classification, and location. Transportation data support general mapping and geographic information system technology analysis for applications such as traffic safety, congestion mitigation, disaster planning, and emergency response. The National Map transportation data...
GAP distribution models represent the areas where species are predicted to occur based on habitat associations. GAP distribution models are the spatial arrangement of environments suitable for occupation by a species. In other words, a species distribution is created using a deductive model to predict areas suitable for occupation within a species range. To represent these suitable environments, GAP compiled existing GAP data, where available, and compiled additional data where needed. Existing data sources were the Southwest Regional Gap Analysis Project (SWReGAP) and the Southeast Gap Analysis Project (SEGAP) as well as a data compiled by Sanborn Solutions and Mason, Bruce and Girard. Habitat associations were...

This shapefile contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the Southeast Aquatic Resource Partnership. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the boundary of the Southeast Aquatic Resource Partnership. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they...

The GAP Status Code is a measure of management intent to conserve biodiversity defined as: Status 1: An area having permanent protection from conversion of natural land cover and a mandated management plan in operation to maintain a natural state within which disturbance events (of natural type, frequency, intensity, and legacy) are allowed to proceed without interference or are mimicked through management. Status 2: An area having permanent protection from conversion of natural land cover and a mandated management plan in operation to maintain a primarily natural state, but which may receive uses or management practices that degrade the quality of existing natural communities, including suppression of natural disturbance....
SurfaceManagementAgency: The Surface Management Agency (SMA) Geographic Information System (GIS) dataset depicts Federal land for the United States and classifies this land by its active Federal surface managing agency. The SMA feature class covers the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands. A Federal SMA agency refers to a Federal agency with administrative jurisdiction over the surface of Federal lands. Jurisdiction over the land is defined when the land is either: Withdrawn by some administrative or legislative action, or Acquired or Exchanged by a Federal Agency. This layer is a dynamic assembly of spatial data layers maintained at various federal...

Reclassed areas of just sagebrush (1) and no sagebrush (0, areas with originally no sagebrush or recently burned areas). Landfire codes were: 2080, 2125, 2126, 2220, 2064, 2072, 2079, 2124) This layer is an intermediate layer used to create a sagebrush landscape cover layer using a moving window analysis. See Landfire metadata for an assessment of that data. See WFDSS, GEOMAC and MTBS fire metadata for more information on those data

This thematic map presents the average household size in the United States in 2010; the average household size for the U.S. in 2010 is 2.59. The 2010 Average Household Size is the household population divided by total households. This map shows Esri's 2010 estimates using Census 2000 geographies. The geography depicts States at greater than 25m scale, Counties at 750k to 25m scale, Census Tracts at 150k to 750km scale, and Census Block Groups at less than 150k scale. This map service is an information surface representing the amount of available water storage (AWS) that is available to plants in the top 100cm (3.28 Feet) of soil. Available Water Storage (AWS) is expressed as centimeters of water, reported as the average of all components in the map unit. AWS is calculated from AWC (Available Water Capacity) which is commonly estimated as the difference between the water contents at 1/10 or 1/3 bar (field capacity) and 15 bars (permanent wilting point) tension, and adjusted for salinity and fragments. Available Water Storage (AWS) surfaces are available through arcgis.com for four soil depths, 25, 50, 100, and 150 centimeters from the surface of the soil. They are available...

This map service is an information surface representing the shallowest distance to the top of a bedrock layer within a soil map unit polygon. To calculate this value, any component or combination of components in a soil map unit polygon that are greater than or equal to 15% of the whole soil map unit are considered significant. And of these significant components, the shallowest distance to bedrock is reported by this service. This means the average distance to bedrock of the entire soil map unit should be deeper than is reported here, but the shallowest distance is the more important information surface since this value limits capabilities and activities on the surface. Although there is data for the whole...

This map features a Wildland-Urban Interface layer for the United States that shows areas that may be at higher risk of wildfires and other issues affecting nature. Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) land has been defined as the zone where natural areas and human development meet. WUI land has been growing over several decades as populations grow and migrate with more housing being developed in and near public lands and other natural areas. This map includes a few layers of information related to WUI land and a presentation that highlights some of the issues it raises, such as the risk of wildfires affecting housing communities. This map features a Wildland-Urban Interface layer for the United States that shows...
Downloadable GIS data showing 303(d) listed impaired waters within the boundary of the SRLCC (created by merging state data and clipping the merged shapefile to the footprint of the SRLCC). Data can also be accessed through web services (select access, then geospatial links). Link to EPA Metadata From Metadata Abstract: "The 303(d) Listed Impaired Waters program system provides impaired water data and impaired water features reflecting river segments, lakes, and estuaries designated under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. Each State will establish Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for these waters. Note the CWA Section 303(d) list of impaired waters does not represent waters that are impaired but have an...

Humans have dramatically altered wildlands in the western United States over the past 100 years by using these lands and the resources they provide. Anthropogenic changes to the landscape, such as urban expansion, construction of roads, power lines, and other networks and land uses necessary to maintain human populations influence the number and kinds of plants and wildlife that remain. We developed the map of the human footprint for the western United States from an analysis of 14 landscape structure and anthropogenic features: human habitation, interstate highways, federal and state highways, secondary roads, railroads, irrigation canals, power lines, linear feature densities, agricultural land, campgrounds, highway...
