U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with Miami-Dade County, performed a sequential, aquifer stress test from August 15 to October 12, 2011, on the Floridan aquifer system at the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Miami-Dade County stressed the Floridan aquifer system with four municipal injection wells at the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant. Injection wells IW–1, IW–3, and IW–4 stressed the aquifer system with injection of as much as 1.8 cubic meters of effluent per second. Injection well IW–2 stressed the aquifer system with pressure release from the injection zone, caused by reverse flow of as much as 0.04 cubic meters of formation fluid mixed with effluent...

In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) started collecting high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) data on Lake Koocanusa. The survey originated near the International Boundary (River Mile (RM) 271.0) and extended down the reservoir, hereinafter referred to as downstream, about 1.4 miles downstream of the Montana 37 Highway Bridge near Boulder Creek (about RM 253). USACE continued the survey in 2017, completing a reach that extended from about RM 253 downstream to near Tweed Creek (RM 244.5). In 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Idaho Water Science Center completed the remaining portion of the reservoir from RM 244.5 downstream to Libby Dam (RM 219.9). The MBES data collected in 2016 and 2017...

The datasets provided here are the output from the Seasonal Kendall Trend (SKT) test and Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) model that characterize changes in water quality in rivers and streams across the Delaware River Basin. SKT results are compiled in "skt_out.csv" for all combinations of site, water-quality parameter, and trend period. WRTDS results are compiled in four datasets. If unspecified, generalized flow normalization (GFN) results are reported. Stationary flow normalization (SFN) results are indicated in the datasets. "wrtds_out_annResults.csv" contains the annual estimates of mean concentration and load and GFN and SFN estimates by site and parameter for the entire calibration...

This data release (version 4.0, February 2021) consists of a Microsoft® Access database and Microsoft® Excel workbook that contain water levels collected from 1941 to 2020 and other hydrologic information for 925 wells in and near areas of underground nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site. The three worksheets in the Microsoft® Excel workbook also are provided as individual comma-separated values (CSV) files. Data and information in the database and workbook have been updated and are superseded by version 5.0 (February 2022) of the data release.

This data release includes data delivered to the USGS by ASTRALite in October 31, 2019 and includes points collected in 6 separate acquisitions or 'voyages". The data for each acquisition are in *.txt format. The files includes points with horizontal positions, elevations that area classified as water surface elevations (coded as 41) and bottom surface elevations (coded as 40).

The U.S. Geological Survey contracted with Juniper Unmanned to conduct field tests of the ASTRALiTe bathymetric lidar system on the Blue River and Colorado River near Kremmling, Colorado, on October 18, 2018. The objective of this project was to assess the potential to map river bathymetry (i.e., channel bed topography) using lidar data collected from an unmanned aircraft system (UAS). The ASTRALiTe lidar instrument was mounted on a DJI Matrice 600 Pro UAS owned and operated by Juniper Unmanned. As part of the study, Juniper's pilot flew the ASTRALiTe instrument across 2 river transects (cross-stream) on the Blue River and 2 river transects (cross-stream) on the Colorado River. This data release includes data delivered...

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY–MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines (England and others, 2019). The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 66.7-, 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for selected USGS streamgages. This data release presents peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in Carter, Custer, Fallon, Powder River, and Prairie Counties, and the Powder River Basin, based on data through water year 2022, using methods described by Sando and McCarthy (2018).

This item contains a data file (.csv) and associated metadata document (.xml) for the recalibration of the Sinking Pond hydrologic model. The hydrologic model was recalibrated using the R script ‘annotated_R_script_for_model_recalibration.R’ and the input dataset ‘Daily_values_for_climate_stage_and_model_terms.csv’ to produce recalibrated values for the four calibrated parameters in the model: KBR, KPR, KBG, and PG (see the ‘Entity and Attribute’ section of the metadata document ‘Model recalibration results including recalibrated parameters and model performance statistics.xml’ for parameter definitions; for additional information see table 9 in Wolfe and others, 2004). The data file ‘model_recalibration_results.csv’...

Field-based real-time kinematic (RTK) GNSS surveys of water surface elevation and channel bed topography were collected along the Blue River, focusing on two cross-sections from which remotely sensed data were obtained. These data were used to assess the accuracy of river bed elevations inferred from the ASTRALiTe bathymetric lidar, acquired from an unmanned aircraft system (UAS). These data sets were collected to support research focused on developing innovative methods for non-contact measurement of river discharge based on various forms of remotely sensed data. The RTK GNSS surveys were performed using a local base station and Trimble R8 and R10 receivers while wading the channel at each cross-section. Additional...

To suport an investigation of the feasibility of measuring river discharge using remotely sensed data acquired from an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), several types of remotely sensed data and field measurements were collected from two cross-sections on the Blue River in Colorado, just upstream of its confluence with the upper Colorado River, on October 18, 2018. This parent data release includes links to child pages for the following data sets: 1) Lidar data used for mapping channel bathymetry (depth), acquired with a novel instrument that was developed by ASTRALiTe to distinguish between returns from the water surface and riverbed based on the polarization of laser pulses. 2) Thermal image time series used to...

From July to November 2019, 48 environmental samples and four quality assurance and quality control samples were collected throughout the Lake Champlain and Susquehanna River Basins. Samples were collected from 10 production wells and nine domestic wells in the Lake Champlain Basin, and 14 production wells and 15 domestic wells in the Susquehanna River Basin. Of the total wells sampled, 24 were completed in bedrock and 23 were completed in sand and gravel. Approximately 20 percent of samples were collected from wells that previously have been sampled as part of this study in 2005, 2009, and 2014. Groundwater samples were collected prior to any treatment or filtration systems, from existing domestic and production...

This child item dataset contains a shapefile that delineates the overall extent of stratified drift (glacial) aquifers within the Owasco Inlet watershed. The extent includes coarse-grained (sand and gravel) deposits that may be unsaturated, but are contiguous with saturated deposits, and thus may act as aquifer recharge areas.
