The U.S. Inland Creel and Angler Survey Catalog (CreelCat) contains data compiled from 14,729 creel and angler surveys conducted by state natural resource management agencies (including Washington DC and Puerto Rico) in inland waters across the United States. Globally, freshwater fishes are among the taxa most vulnerable to climate change but are generally understudied in tropical island ecosystems where climate change is predicted to alter the intensity, frequency, and duration of extreme flow events. These changes may impact stream ecosystems and native and non-native biota in complex ways. This data set characterizes the thermal regime in a number of Colorado and New Mexico streams that contain populations of Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii virginalis) or have been considered potential restoration areas for the fish. The majority of these streams had no previous record of continual temperature records. When compared to Colorado water temperature criteria (Cold Tier 1), a portion of these populations appeared to be at risk from elevated stream temperatures, as indicated by exceedance of both acute and chronic water quality metrics. Habitat condition, both acres flooded and timing of inundation, were determined using remote sensing images from Landsat 5 and 8 for the Lower Klamath Basin, the representative basin for the southern Oregon and northeast California (SONEC) region. The dataset includes proportional water coverage (acres) for 8,825 distinct patches in Lower Klamath over 6 different time periods (1984-89; 1990-94; 1995-99; 2000-04; 2005-09; 2010-16), with a total of 368,301 acres of possibly foreageable land.
