This data release contains water depth, depth-averaged water velocity, and river stationing (based on 2012 ortho-imagery) in select locations in the Lower San Joaquin River, California, 2011-2014. Between 2011 and 2014, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), collected approximately 105 channel cross-sections and multiple longitudinal profiles, which comprised of nearly 150,000 streamflow-velocity measurements and 246,000 water-depth measurements in various reaches and subreaches of the Lower San Joaquin River between Orestimba Creek and Sturgeon Bend. The data collection locations in the Lower San Joaquin River were selected based on discussions with USFWS to...

Two tributary watersheds¬ Cottonwood Creek and Little Dry Creek¬ to the greater San Joaquin watershed, in California’s Central Valley were assessed for sediment and flow dynamics, between water years (Oct. 1 to Sept. 30) 2011 and 2019. The two systems deliver suspended sediment to the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam, California. Because these two creeks are directly down river of Friant Dam, they become the most upstream source of sediment to the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam. Thus, is it important to assess their contribution to the San Joaquin system. Flow from each creek watershed, along with the San Joaquin River, was compared to continuously measured water surface elevations to quantify flow direction...

Dataset contains reservoir bathymetry and shoreline topography up to dam crest elevation. Data were collected using small unmanned aerial system (sUAS), multibeam sonar, and terrestrial lidar.
This dataset contains the digital elevation model from the bathymetric survey, along with the sediment samples, stage-area table, stage-storage table, and 20-ft contours of the reservoir.

On October 13, 2020 a survey of Upper Letts Lake was conducted where both bathymetric and terrestrial lidar data were collected. Additionally, six bed material samples and three core samples were collected to understand the characterization of the grain-size of the lake bed. Survey data were merged with an additional lidar dataset from the USGS 3DEP program to create digital elevation model (DEM). The DEM was used to update the stage-storage and stage-surface area tables for the reservoir. This data release provides the following data sets; 1) bathymetric and terrestrial elevation data, 2) Combined bathymetric and 3DEP DEM, 3) stage-storage and stage-surface area tables from DEM, and 4) bed material grain-size and...

Dataset contains a comma delimited (csv) file reservoir stage-area and stage-volume tables. Stage is provided in elevation (in ft NAVD 88) in the first column in 0.1 ft increments. Reservoir surface area is in acres and volume in acre-feet at each of those 0.1 foot increments.
This product summarizes the collection and analysis of bed material sample grain size distribution collected from the Iron Gate, Copco, and J.C. Boyle Reservoirs located in Northern California and Southern Oregon on the Klamath River. Samples were collected on June 16, 2020 from cores (less than 1m depth) and processed for the full size distribution.

These files are 10-ft contours generated from the 2019 bathymetric and topographic digital elevation model (DEM). The contours were smoothed and small contours and fragments generated from the DEM were removed to provide a simple set of contours for visualation purposes. Also included in this set are contours representing the spillway crest elevation (759.01 ft NAVD 88) and the dam crest elevation (775.6 ft NAVD 88).
Note: this data release has been depecrated. Find the updated version here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9MAJHNI This data release includes grain-size measurements of sediment samples collected from the substrate surface and uppermost 10 cm of sediment deposits in the Klamath estuary, northern California. Samples were collected using a BMH-60 bed-material sampler deployed from a boat, or by hand trowel from subaerial or shallow-water (less than 0.5 m water depth) regions along the estuary margins and side channels. Sediment grain size was analyzed at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) laboratory in Santa Cruz, Calif. Particles coarser than 2 mm were sieved using a RO-TAP sieve shaker, and particles finer than 2 mm were...

Dataset contains reservoir bathymetry and shoreline topography up to the dam crest elevation. Data were collected using multbeam sonar, terrestrial lidar, and small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). Data were merged into a single digital elevation map (DEM). Areas outside of the dam crest elevation contour were removed. Data are presented in two raster file formats: ascii and tiff.
