River valley boundary extents were generated for select large river floodplains of the Upper Midwest, United States. These polygons were delineated using a method that incorporated interpolating a water surface elevation that completely over-topped water-control structures within the valley such as levees, flood walls, and roadways. The intersection of this derived water surface and land elevation at the outermost edge of the floodplain was used to delineate the approximate extent of the river valley boundary. We used best professional judgment to approximate this water surface elevation.
Aerial photographs for Pools 1-13 Upper Mississippi River System and Pools, Alton-Marseilles, Illinois River were collected in color infrared (CIR) in August of 2010 at 8”/pixel and 16”/pixel respectively using a mapping-grade Applanix DSS 439 digital aerial camera. In August 2011, CIR aerial photographs for Pools 14-Open River South, Upper Mississippi River and Pools Dresden-Lockport, Illinois River were collected at 16”/pixel with the same camera. All CIR aerial photos were orthorectified, mosaicked, compressed, and served via the UMESC Internet site. The CIR aerial photos were interpreted and automated using a 31-class LTRMP vegetation classification. The 2010/11 LCU databases were prepared by or under the supervision...
Aerial imagery for the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) Navigational Pool 5 drawdown follow-up was collected in true color (TC) in August of 2015 at 6”/pixel using a mapping-grade Applanix DSS 439 digital aerial camera. All TC aerial images were orthorectified, mosaicked, and compressed into a JPEG2000-format image. The TC aerial images were interpreted and automated using a genus-level 150-class Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) vegetation classification. The 2015 vegetation database was prepared by or under the supervision of competent and trained professional staff using documented standard operated procedures.
We applied Zequanox using a custom-engineered, boat mounted application system to replicated 0.30 Hectare plots within a small inland lake. The objectives of these applications were to determine if uncontained, open-water Zequanox applications could effectively control zebra mussel populations and protect native unionid mussel populations within zebra mussel infested systems. The datasets included are as follows: Exposure Water Chemistry Hardness and Alkalinity Native Mussel Sonde Water Chemistry Zebra Mussel Density Zebra Mussel Length Zebra Mussel Mortality Zequanox Concentration ShapeFiles: PLOTS, UNIONID, ZEQUANOX CONCENTRATION, ZM_DENSITY, ZM_MORTALITY

In 2011, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Town of Newfield and the Tompkins County Planning Department, began a study of the stratified-drift aquifers in the West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill valleys in the Town of Newfield, Tompkins County, New York. The objective of this study was to characterize the hydrogeology and water quality of the stratified-drift aquifers in the West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill valleys and produce a summary report of the findings. This dataset contains locations of unconfined aquifer boundaries in West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill Valleys, Newfield, Tompkins County, New York.
From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at Kirk Lake during June 2017. Depth data were collected primarily with a multibeam echosounder. Quality assurance points were measured with a single-beam echosounder. Water surface elevations were established using real-time kinematic (RTK) and static global navigation satellite system (GNSS) surveys and submersible pressure transducers. Measured sound velocity profiles were used to correct echosounder depth measurements for thermal stratification. Digital elevation models were created by combining the measured bathymetry data with lidar elevation...

The California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program (GAMA) is a statewide assessment of groundwater quality designed to help better understand and identify risks to groundwater resources. GAMA is implemented by the California State Water Resources Control Board. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is the technical lead for the Priority Basin Project (PBP), one of the components of the GAMA Program. Starting in 2012, GAMA began an assessment of water resources in domestic-supply (shallow) aquifers in California. These aquifers provide water for domestic and small community-supply wells, which are often drilled to shallower depths in the groundwater system than public-supply wells. Domestic-supply aquifers...
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the U.S. Geological Survey have developed projected future change factors for precipitation depth-duration-frequency (DDF) curves at 174 NOAA Atlas 14 stations in central and south Florida. The change factors were computed as the ratio of projected future to historical extreme precipitation depths fitted to extreme precipitation data from various downscaled climate datasets using a constrained maximum likelihood (CML) approach. The change factors correspond to the period 2050-2089 (centered in the year 2070) as compared to the 1966-2005 historical period. Geospatial data provided in an ArcGIS shapefile are described herein. The shapefile contains polygons...

The Denver fossil algae database were gathered from the inception of Denver Region in 1953 by Richard Rezak. His specialty was algae, carbonate platforms, and off-shore modern reefs. He developed a very useful litho-stratigraphic tool while studying Proterozoic algae and stromatolites in Glacier National Park. This lead to his studies of modern analogs in the Caribbean and South Seas. His catalogs were converted into digital form, Excel and Filemaker Pro database. The Catalog consist of 1001 fossil localities. His supplementary data has been added whenever possible - sources field map locality points, E&R files with enhanced faunal lists, as well as formal publications
