These feature data are part of a larger dataset containing shapefiles and associated metadata for lava flows erupted at Kilauea volcano from ca. 1790 through 1982. The complete dataset includes all known subaerial eruptions in the volcano's Southwest Rift Zone and East Rift Zone, and selected flows erupted within the summit caldera, during this time period. Two attributed shapefiles are associated with each eruption: a polyline shapefile for the lava flow contacts and eruptive fissures, and a polygon shapefile showing the full extent of the lava flow after emplacement. In total, this dataset contains 100 shapefiles, each with an associated metadata .txt file, representing 50 separate eruptions. The lava flow contacts...

The travel time map was generated using the Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst model (version 1.0.1 for ArcGIS 10.5) from the USGS (https://geography.wr.usgs.gov/science/vulnerability/tools.html). The travel time analysis uses ESRI's Path Distance tool to find the shortest distance across a cost surface from any point in the hazard zone to a safe zone. This cost analysis considers the direction of movement and assigns a higher cost to steeper slopes, based on a table contained within the model. The analysis also adds in the energy costs of crossing different types of land cover, assuming that less energy is expended walking along a road than walking across a sandy beach. To produce the time map, the evacuation surface...

From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at Middle Branch Reservoir during July and August, 2017. Depth data were collected primarily with a multibeam echosounder. Quality assurance points were measured with a single-beam echosounder. Water surface elevations were established using real-time kinematic (RTK) and static global navigation satellite system (GNSS) surveys and submersible pressure transducers. Measured sound velocity profiles were used to correct echosounder depth measurements for thermal stratification. Digital elevation models were created by combining the measured bathymetry...

From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at West Branch Reservoir during September 2017, October 2017, and October 2019. Depth data were collected primarily with a multibeam echosounder; additional bathymetry points were measured using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). Quality assurance points were measured with a single-beam echosounder. Water surface elevations were established using real-time kinematic (RTK) and static global navigation satellite system (GNSS) surveys and submersible pressure transducers. This part of DS 781 presents data for the transgressive contours for the Point Conception to Hueneme Canyon, California, region. The vector file is included in "TransgressiveContours_PointConceptionToHuenemeCanyon.zip," which is accessible from http://dx.doi.org/10.5066/F7891424. As part of the USGS's California State Waters Mapping Project, a 50-m grid of sediment thickness for the seafloor within the 3-nautical mile limit between Point Conception and Hueneme Canyon was generated from seismic-reflection data collected in 2014 (USGS activity 2014-632-FA) supplemented with outcrop and geologic structure (fault) information following the methodology of Wong (2012). Water depths determined from bathymetry data were...

Spatial polygons of vegetation zones in 1975 for wetlands; P1, P2, and P4 within the Cottonwood Lake Study Area, Stutsman County, North Dakota. Created from a collection of digital orthorectified images from aerial photographs of the study area acquired during 1975 using Stewart and Kantrud classification system.

This polygon shapefile represents model simulated flood-inundation extents for the Muddy River, near Moapa Nevada. A flood frequency analysis was performed at USGS streamgage 09416000 - Muddy River near Moapa, Nevada, to estimate the 50, 20, 10, 4, 2, and 1-percent annual exceedance probability (AEP) flood streamflows. The flood-inundation extents for the 50-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, and 1-percent AEP floods were simulated for the current levee location in 2019 and for the new levee location of the proposed restoration. One model simulation represents the levee at its current (existing) location in 2019 on the east bank of the river and referred to as ‘current conditions (2019).’ A second model simulation removes the...

The Mendocino mule deer herd complex is comprised of three overlapping black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) administrative herds, including Mendocino, Clear Lake, and Alder Springs. Mendocino black-tailed deer exhibit variable movement patterns and strategies, including traditional seasonal migrants, full-time residents, and multi-range migrants. Migrants move between seasonal ranges from a multitude of lower elevation areas within the North Coast Range in winter to higher elevation summer ranges (fig. XXX). Local biologists predict high-use winter ranges throughout both foothill slopes and valley bottoms. Female deer of the Mendocino herd complex exhibit both short-term (seasonal/annual) and long-term...

The Klickitat mule deer herd inhabits the Columbia Hills and surrounding terrain to the north along the Columbia River, Washington (fig. 23). The Klickitat River is the western boundary of the herd and is part of a transition zone between black-tailed deer and mule deer distributions. Habitats in the western half of the herd’s range include Quercus garryana (Oregon white oak) mixed with Abies spp. (fir), pine, or grassland species. The western half of the herd’s range comprises a mix of public and private lands, including rangeland, farmland, and the Klickitat Wildlife Area, which has protected crucial winter range since the 1950s. Sagebrush steppe is more prevalent in the eastern half of the herd’s range with Quercus...
