The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units for the continental United States, Canada, and Alaska and 5- by 5-km (25km2) for Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This grain size is biologically appropriate given the scale of movement of most bat species, which routinely travel many kilometers each night between roosts and foraging areas and along foraging routes. This dataset represents 505 campsites along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with associated debris flow probabilities calculated for approximately a 100-year period (Griffiths and others, 2004) and geomorphic attributes mapped by the U.S. Geological Survey, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (USGS-GCMRC) (Hadley and others, 2018). The campsite polygons were developed as part of a master campsite database that was a collaborative effort to maintain between the National Park Service in Grand Canyon National Park and the USGS-GCMRC. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired high-resolution P- and S-wave seismic data across the Frijoles Fault strand of the San Gregorio Fault Zone (SGFZ) at northern Año Nuevo, California in 2012. SGFZ is a right-lateral fault system that is mainly offshore, and prior studies provide highly variable slip estimates, which indicates uncertainty about the seismic hazard it poses. Therefore, the primary goal of the seismic survey was to better understand the structure and geometry of the onshore section of the Frijoles Fault strand of the SGFZ. This data set contains estimates of bedload transport entering San Francisco Bay from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Bedload was estimated following the methods of van Rijn (1984) for the Sacramento River at Rio Vista (USGS 11455420) and the San Joaquin River at Jersey Point (USGS 11337190). The inputs the van Rijn (1984) equations included:bed-material particle size, bed-form dimensions, depth, and velocity. Bedload was estimated at 15-minute intervals from Water Year 2011 through Water Year 2020. A "low range" estimate and a "high range" estimate were made. This dataset represents 740 tributary canyons and/or watersheds adjacent to the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with associated debris flow probabilities from 2004. Also, these data include tributarys canyon and/or watersheds to Glen Canyon and several smaller watersheds in Grand Canyon where debris flow data is currently unavailable. Historic probabilities of debris flow occurrence were estimated by modeling the known frequency distribution with drainage basin parameters observed to control the process by which debris flows initiate and travel to the river. As part of a large-scale study of nitrate contamination on Kirtland Air Force Base in central New Mexico, the USGS collected groundwater and surface water samples for artificial sweetener analyses. Samples were collected following standard USGS procedures (U.S. Geological Survey, variously dated), filtered to 0.45 microns, and frozen until analysis. Artificial sweeteners analyzed include neotame, acesulfame-K, aspartame, saccharin, and sucralose. Of the 49 sites sampled, 17 sites had measurable detections of artificial sweeteners. Neotame was the most commonly detected sweetener (n=12) followed by saccharin (n=5), acesulfame-K (n=2), aspartame (n=1), and sucralose (n=0). Concentrations ranged from 0.0003–0.011 μg/L...

This digital dataset contains groundwater level observations for 364 wells, in addition to well construction information, from 1916 to 2014 in the Central Valley, California. Groundwater level observations are used to create groundwater level contours and to calibrate the groundwater levels for the updated Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM2). Groundwater level observations were collected from five sources (USGS, 2018; SLDMWA, 2018; CADWR, 2004; CRNA, 2018).

The original Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM) did not simulate tile drain discharge in the west side of the San Joaquin Valley. The updated Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM2) does simulate on-farm drains. The data for the drain flow and locations were obtained from the Berkeley National Laboratory is from (WESTSIM2) (N. Quinn, Berkeley National Laboratory, written communication., 2010). This component of the data release includes:e (1) three datasets included are a spreadsheet of the available observations with the drain flows in acre-ft/month, (2) a shapefile of the WESTSIM2 drain cells, and (3) a shapefile of the original WESTSIM2 drain cells translated to the CVHM2 model grid.

The updated Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM2) is similar to the original Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM) in terms of the basic units of model discretization. Both versions simulated monthly stress periods on the same one square mile cell spatial discretization. Although the simulation period for CVHM1 was water years 1962-2003, the CVHM2 simulation period is water years 1962-2019. Both CVHM and CVHM2 have a 6 month spin up period from April-September of 1961. The CVHM2 is now composed of 13 layers compared to the ten in the CVHM.
