These heatmaps show a top 3 stressor or service, as ranked by participants, and the concentration of participants who reported as working in each municipality or county who also voted for that stressor or service across the landscape. This map shows the percentage of participants from each county and municipality who ranked Availability of Water as a top 3 ecosystem service that could benefit from collaborative conservation in their region. Symbology represents the percentage of participants with 0% = dark green, 0.0001 % - 24.99% = light green, 25% - 49.99% = yellow, 50% - 74.99% = orange, 75% - 100% = red. All counties and municipalities identified by participants as areas where they work were given a tally for...

Problem The quality of surface water has important effects on human and ecological health. Surface water is an important drinking water source and is used for swimming, fishing, and recreation, and the quality of surface water can have profound effects on the health, diversity, and resilience of ecological communities. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is tasked by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to monitor ambient water quality of the State. The NYSDEC is also tasked to develop Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for state waters that fail to meet their intended use. A critical first step in maintaining high quality of surface-water is assessment of existing...

HEM events were created from fish screens, stream gages, and surface water diversions within the Lemhi SubBasin in Idaho. Data was gathered from the following sources: Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Power, Idaho Water Engineering, and Idaho Water Resources Water Rights. The data assembled represented fish screens, water withdrawals from the stream, and flow gauging stations.

This dataset contains digitized groundwater quality data from 435 wells that are screened in the Chicot aquifer system. Reported values of interest included specific conductance, total dissolved solids, and chloride (Cl) concentration; other parameters and major/trace element concentrations were included if reported. Values listed as “NA” or “-9999” represent data that was not reported in the physical dataset. A concentration of 0 ppm or ppb represents a reported concentration of 0 and not a null value. Data were collected from scanned versions of well registration records obtained from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. Most well registration records may be accessed through Strategic Online Natural...

This dataset describes groundwater quality monitoring wells in the vicinity of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Sauk County, Wisconsin, and information associated with each unique well. This includes the values used for mapping plume boundaries, concentration trends for contaminants in each individual well, and monitoring optimization results from the Monitoring and Redediation Optimization System (MAROS) analysis.

Landforms along the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic coastlines for the conterminous United States are attributed with the relative vulnerability of horizontal erosion due to sea-level rise to characterize coastal zone stability. The position and extent of landforms are geospatially indexed as line-events where these coastal zone features are intersected by the linear-referenced 2013 - 2014 U.S. Geological Survey National Hydrography Dataset Coastline, which corresponds to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 2013 - 2014 mean high water level datum delineated in intertidal zones open to oceans, behind barrier coasts in bays, lagoons, and estuaries, and sometimes where tidal currents reach...

A GIS-based analysis was used to model habitat connectivity in the three Okanagan Regional Districts in British Columbia: the North Okanagan Regional District, the Central Okanagan Regional District and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. This model integrated a series of parameters to identify connected and potentially fragmented habitats. The model was not specific to a particular species. The goal was to identify portions of the landscape offering a higher opportunity for wildlife movement at a regional scale. The following parameters were used to model connectivity corridors: Elevation – Lower elevations (i.e., the valley) receive higher scores; Slope – Steep slopes receive lower scores; Terrain Ruggedness...

Shallow subsurface electrical conductivity was mapped at selected U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service managed lands in northeast Montana and northwest North Dakota using the DUALEM421 electromagnetic sensor (Dualem, Inc., ON, Canada) in the winters of 2017 and 2018. Data were acquired by towing the DUALEM421 sensor on a sled behind an all-terrain vehicle or snow machine, with the sensor at a nominal height of 0.3 meters (m) above ground surface. Approximately 427 line-kilometers (km) of data were acquired over an area of nearly 26 square-kilometers. Data were manually edited to remove sensor dropouts, lag corrected for apparent offsets between recorded GPS location and data locations for each coil pair, and averaged...
