These data describe the results of virus isolation from oropharyngeal/cloacal swabs and testing of sera by a commercial blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (bELISA) and hemagglutinin (HA) specific testing by microneutralization (MN) and hemagglutination inhibition (HI) for Lesser Scaup in both the Atlantic and Pacific Flyways and Greater Scaup in the Pacific Flyway. These data support a USGS published manuscript.
This data release is a summarization within the USGS Spatial Hydro-Ecological Decision System (SHEDS) framework of the Oregon State University PRISM Climate Group 30-year normal 800 meter resolution monthly, minimum and maximum temperature data and monthly precipitation data between 1991 and 2020. The output is a table consisting of the summarized values of these continuous variables for each local SHEDS catchment within the SHEDS Hydro-Region 2 along with a table of these variables individually processed through an upstream accumulation method for each catchment in SHEDS Region 2. This upstream accumulation method takes the local and upstream catchment values for a particular catchment, individually weighs them...

The USGS Water Mission Area (WMA) - Ecosystems Mission Area (EMA) EcoDrought project is comprised of interdisciplinary teams in five pilot regions across the country. The over-arching project goal is to measure streamflow in headwater streams and to relate flow variation to stream fish population dynamics. In the northeast, the New England Water Science Center (NewEngWSC) partnered with the fish ecology group at the S.O. Conte Anadromous Fish Research Lab (Conte), a part of the EMA’s Eastern Ecological Science Center. The Conte fish ecology team has been collecting ecological and stream water temperature data in the West Brook watershed located in Whately, Massachusetts, since 1997, where they developed novel methods...

This Data Release contains stream temperature observations for 28 sites in the Antietam Creek Watershed (Maryland) during summer 2021. Data were collected using Onset ProV2 temperature gages within perforated PVC cases attached to stream substrates with rebar. Temperature gages were deployed and retrieved by volunteers with the Antietam-Conococheague Watershed Alliance. Temperature records are provided for 20-minute increments between June 1 and August 31, 2021 (92 days, 6625 observations per site, and a total of 185,500 observations in the dataset). Site location coordinates are provided.
The 1966-2022 North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) dataset contains avian point count data for more than 700 North American bird taxa (species, races, and unidentified species groupings). These data are collected annually during the breeding season, primarily in June, along thousands of randomly established roadside survey routes in the United States and Canada. Routes are roughly 24.5 miles (39.2 km) long with counting locations placed at approximately half-mile (800-m) intervals, for a total of 50 stops. At each stop, a citizen scientist highly skilled in avian identification conducts a 3-minute point count, recording all birds seen within a quarter-mile (400-m) radius and all birds heard. Surveys begin 30...

Biological indicators including morphometric (length, weight), age, sex and health indicators including organismal (health assessment index, condition factor), organ (hepatosomatic index, gonadosomatic index), cellular (intersex, parasite density, macrophage aggregate density), subcellular (plasma vitellogenin, estradiol, testosterone, 11-keto testosterone) and molecular (hepatic transcript abundance) were measured in smallmouth bass from tributaries in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Total mercury was measured in these fish and correlations between mercury and biological indicators were assessed.

Rapid advances in video technology are enabling new strategies for species abundance estimation. Here we provide estimates of fish abundance derived from video data collected in a series of stream pools in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia (n=41). Two 360-degree cameras were simultaneously used at each pool site where 15-minutes of underwater footage was collected. Environmental data are provided describing pool morphology, canopy cover, and fish cover (boulders, large woody debris, and undercut banks).

Light intensity levels in lux from upper sensors in Moneystump marsh at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge MD. There are 25 light sensors all located in the control treatment area. Five sensors are located in the lowest elevation (marsh), five located in the upper marsh, five located in the marsh-forest transition zone (ecotone), five located in the lower forest, and five located in the highest elevation (upper forest). Data covers the time span from October 1 2015 - September 30 2019.

This data product consists of a database of population change and relative abundance estimates for North American birds, estimated from North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) data. Data are presented in 6 separate spreadsheets for 2 methods of trend summary and 3 time periods for 548 species of birds. Metadata for the BBS data used to produce these estimates is available from a USGS ftp site (ftp://ftpext.usgs.gov/pub/er/md/laurel/BBS/DataFiles/). Metadata associated with this data product provides information specific to the analysis results.

This Data Release includes records of stream temperature during summer months of 2019 (10 sites) and records of Blue Ridge sculpin (Cottus caeruleomentum) weight for fish held in experimental enclosures for 45 days during the temperature sampling period (5 sites).
These tabular data are summaries of land use/land cover related variables within catchments of the Chesapeake Bay watershed using the Xstrm methodology at 1:24,000 scale. Variables being counted as land use/land cover related contain all land use and land cover data including datasets that are split off or combined from those data (eg. agriculture or impervious classes only datasets). Outputs consist of tabular comma-separated values files (CSVs) for both the local catchment and network summaries linked to the National Hydrography Dataset Plus High-Resolution (NHDPlus HR) framework by NHDPlus ID. Local catchments are defined as the single catchment the data is summarized within. Network accumulation summaries were...

These data describe the affects of elastic leg-loop harnesses on the reproductive success and behavior of adult Common Terns and the growth and behavior of juvenile Common Terns. These data support a USGS authored manuscript.
This is an antiquated version of the North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) dataset that has been superseded by a more recent release. Unless visitors have a specific need for these archived data, they should return to the Main BBS Dataset Page and choose the most recent data release, as that one will include all BBS data released to date. Here we provide data used to report on changes in tidal marsh elevation in relation to our network of 387 fixed benchmarks in tidal marshes on four continents measured for an average of 10 years. During this period RSLR at these marshes reached on average 6.6 mm yr-1, compared to 0.34 mm yr-1 over the past millennia. While the rate of sediment accretion corresponded to RSLR, the loss of elevation to shallow subsidence increased in proportion to the accretion rate. This caused a deficit between elevation gain and RSLR which increased consistently with the rate of RSLR regardless of position within the tidal frame, suggesting that long-term in situ tidal marsh survival is unlikely. While higher tidal range (>3m) conferred...
