These data describe the results of virus isolation from oropharyngeal/cloacal swabs and testing of sera by a commercial blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (bELISA) and hemagglutinin (HA) specific testing by microneutralization (MN) and hemagglutination inhibition (HI) for Lesser Scaup in both the Atlantic and Pacific Flyways and Greater Scaup in the Pacific Flyway. The Nisqually River Delta represents the largest wetland restoration in the Pacific Northwest. The restoration resulted in a 50% increase in potential salt marsh habitat. The Delta supports threatened salmon fisheries, large populations of migratory birds, and provides unique opportunities for recreation. The Delta also provides multiple ecosystem services, which are the benefits that wildlife or ecosystems provide to people. In response to the rapidly evolving conditions at the Salton Sea with the emergence of both newly formed wetland habitat and increasing hazards to wildlife, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Geological Survey have funded a re-evaluation of data gaps regarding selenium concentrations in biota the region. As part of this work, selenium concentrations in biological tissue samples were compiled from published reports, public databases, and unpublished archives into a tabulated spreadsheet. This data provides county level occurrence information for all individuals used in modelling potential exposure and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAIv) from the 2021-2022 North American outbreak. The data set contains individual identifiers and taxa information, an indicator of exposure, exposure status (Susceptible, Exposed by HPAIv detection in the county, or Exposed by secondary contact with an exposed bird), and date of first occurrence of each individual bird and that bird's exposure status within each visited county. SET-MH were installed in 2009 and 2010 with three replicates in Reference and Phase II and with two replicates (north-south) pairs in the 2009 restoration area (Units 1-4). SET-MH were read repeatedly at regular, at least annual intervals. Reading SETs consisted of measurements for nine pins facing the four cardinal directions for a total of 36 measurements per SET, per sampling event. Surface Elevation Tables (SETs) were installed in 2009 and 2010 using permanent, deep rods driven down into the soil with a demolition hammer, typically about 60-80 feet. The top of the rod lies near the sediment surface, with a receiver end. A Surface Elevation Table is a portable mechanical leveling device that attaches to the receiving end at the top of the deep rod. The SET arm includes a bubble level and a notched collar that allows for the arm to be aligned precisely and repeatedly in the cardinal directions. This datasets summarizes small mammal trapping efforts that USGS San Francisco Bay Estuary Field Station has led, co-led, or supervised, to detect and monitor the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse (Reithrodontomys raviventris) in the northern reaches of San Francisco Bay from 1998-2014. As the salt marsh harvest mouse is listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, sensitive location information can be made available upon request by contacting the dataset point of contact. Remote sensing based maps of tidal marshes, both of their extents and carbon stocks, have the potential to play a key role in conducting greenhouse gas inventories and implementing climate mitigation policies. Our objective was to generate a single remote sensing model of tidal marsh aboveground biomass and carbon that represents nationally diverse tidal marshes within the conterminous United States (CONUS). Habitat biogeochemistry was assessed by measuring 31 variables in sediments, porewater, and surface waters related to mercury content, organic matter, sediment characteristics, and microbial rates of sulfate reduction, iron reduction, and methanogenesis. Fifty-six composite surface (0-2 cm) sediment cores and 32 surface water samples were collected in three wetlands in the spring and summer of 2005 and 2006.

Methylmercury (MeHg) is a globally pervasive contaminant that biomagnifies in food webs and can reach toxic concentrations in consumers at higher trophic levels, including wildlife and humans. The production of MeHg, and its subsequent entry and biomagnification in food webs, is governed by a complex suite of biogeochemical, physical, and ecological processes, resulting in spatial variation in the distribution of MeHg. This dataset consists of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur stable isotope data from primary producers, invertebrates, and fish from the Nisqually River Delta, Washington from 2011, 2012, and 2015. Data were collected to determine food web structure in different habitat zones within the entire river delta. Data collection for primary producers and invertebrates were led by U.S. Geological Survey, while all fish capture studies were led by the Nisqually Indian Tribe. These data, which support a USGS authored manuscript, describe how active and previous previous infection with avian influenza impacts the movement ecology of several wild waterfowl species that overwinter in California. Results varied by species and demonstrate that the relationships between avian influenza infection and wild bird movements are context- and species-dependent.
