These data identify the time (0-1 min, 1-2 min,or 2-3 min) and distance (≤50 meters, >50 meters) category when birds were first detected during 3-minutes point counts at stop locations associated with North American Breeding Bird Survey routes or route equivalents that were surveyed on dates between 2009 and 2016 and provide point location coordinates of stop locations along North American Breeding Bird Survey routes or route equivalents within (or within 60 miles) the Gulf Coastal Plains & Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative boundary.
These data describe the status of eggs in nests which had a foster egg added to them as part of an effort to relocate a common tern colony on Poplar Island. One data file (McGowanEtAl2018_FosterNestData_Data.csv) contains the data regarding the observations, while one definitions file (McGowanEtAl2018_FosterNestData_Definitions.csv) details the data.
This SSP project resulted in three publications focused on production and availabilty of seeds for waterfowl.

Understanding effects of flow alteration on stream biota is essential to developing ecologically sustainable water supply strategies. We evaluated effects of altering flows via surface water withdrawals and instream reservoirs on stream fish assemblages, and compared effects with other hypothesized drivers of species richness and assemblage composition. We sampled fishes during three years in 28 streams used for municipal water supply in the Piedmont region of Georgia, U.S.A. Study sites had permitted average withdrawal rates that ranged from < 0.05 to > 13 times the stream's seven-day, ten-year recurrence low flow (7Q10), and were located directly downstream either from a water supply reservoir or from a withdrawal...

This data set is measurements of the proportional area of 17 land-cover types at 5 different spatial scales in Cape May County, NJ at individual radio-tagged American woodcock (Scololpax minor) use locations and at random points across the county. The data set consists of a unique identifier, band number, year or season during which sampling was conducted, spatial coordinates (UTMs),

The USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center is the nation’s first laboratory dedicated to wildlife research. Since 1936, Patuxent scientists have taken great pride in addressing the most important problems in natural resource conservation and wildlife management. Today, we assist the nation’s land management agencies through ecological and biological research, by providing scientific data though continental monitoring of wildlife populations, and through development of various technical methods now commonly used in the conservation community. Patuxent staff are leaders in avian biology, wildlife toxicology, population biology, endangered species conservation, habitat evaluation, monitoring wildlife populations,...

This dataset of 40 square kilometer (sq. km) hexagons was created by the U.S. EPA's Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) and is being released by the U.S. Geological Survey for public use. The 40 sq. km hexagons were derived from a grid consisting of a triangular array of points that cover the United States and neighboring Canada and Mexico. The base grid of points had a companion areal structure called a tessellation. The base tessellation hexagons constituted this tessellation. In other words, surrounding each grid point was a hexagon that defines the area within which all points are closer to this grid point than to any other, and the set of hexagons defined this way completely and -mutually...

This SSP project produced a final report on abundance of mallards in the MAV. In 1995, breeding habitat conditions improved and populations of most prairie-nesting ducks increased. Also in 1995, the Adaptive Harvest Management (AHM) program was initiated to select hunting regulations that maximized long-term harvest of mid-continent mallards. Generally, AHM has provided liberal harvests and hunting opportunity. The Lower Mississippi Valley (LMV) Joint Venture partnership has acquired new wildlife management areas and encouraged more private landowners to flood croplands to accommodate increased waterfowl populations envisioned in the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP). Together, these developments...

This dataset is comprised of 3 .csv files related to the use of unmanned aerial systems over waterbird colonies. Specifically, data detail the disturbance observed in birds during flights, the time required for traditional ground surveys to be conducted, and the distance at which birds flush during traditional ground surveys.

This QR project contributed information to the MAPS (Monitoring avian production and survivorship) program.
This data product consists of a databases of population change and relative abundance estimates for North American birds, estimated from North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) data and produced yearly. Data are presented for ~548 species of birds in spreadsheets containing trend estimates and annual indices for 2 time periods.
