Using previously published (Robinson and others, 2019) no-flow fractions and L-moments of nonzero streamflow from decadal streamflow flow-duration analysis (daily mean streamflow), probability distributions were fit to provide 27 estimated quantiles of decadal flow-duration curves, and hence the probability distributions are a form of parametric modeling that ensures monotonicity of the quantiles by non-exceedance probability (NEP). For both U.S. Geological Survey streamflow-gaging stations (streamgages) and level-12 hydrologic unit code (HUC12) catchments, as defined by Crowley-Ornelas and others (2019), the 27 quantiles were estimated and tabulated in this data release. This dataset provides numerical and categorical descriptions of 48 basin characteristics for 956 basins with observed streamflow information and 9,314 ungaged basins coinciding with 12-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC12) pour points that drain to the Gulf of Mexico. Characteristics are indexed by National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) version 2 COMID (integer that uniquely identifies each feature in the NHD) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) station number for streamflow-gaging station, where applicable. The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ (LaDNR) Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS) is a repository for recent (1930–present) well information that includes date of completion, well construction, geology, and water level. Well information is provided by the well drillers during the permitting process and is updated regularly by LaDNR. Imputed salinities from either salinity or specific conductance observations and covariate data in data structures deemed suitable for statistical modeling of salinity in near-coastal environments of the northern Gulf of Mexico are provided for 15 salinity groups. The data herein were created by the 'covardr2formodel.R' script of 'covESTUSAL software' (Asquith and others, 2023), which represents terminal decisions on variable setup and transformations. The design ideal is data downloaded from this data release would be used in some path of “input” within statistical modeling software. Copious documentation of the decision process for data assembly is provided by Asquith and others (2023).

This data release provides the data that support the findings in "Characterizing groundwater and surface-water interaction using hydrograph-separation techniques and groundwater-level data throughout the Mississippi Delta" by Killian and others (2019). Groundwater-level data, in conjunction with attendant metadata and covariates (predictor variables) data, for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA) are used to support statistical and process-based numerical modeling. This page represents a collection of groundwater-level data within the expanse of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) (Painter and Westerman, 2018) and are derived from well-specific periods of record of discrete measurements and continuous water levels aggregated to daily statistics. The basic data structures are intended also to serve as interpretability standards for use by statistical software such as described by Asquith and Seanor (2019) and Asquith and others (2019).

A potentiometric-surface map for spring 2020 was created for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA), which was referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), using most of the available groundwater-altitude data from wells and surface-water-altitude data from streamgages. The location and water-level altitude in feet for these wells and streamgages in spring 2020 are provided in this data release. The interpreted contours and raster of the potentiometric surface are also provided in this data release and in the associated report titled "Potentiometric surface, Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer, spring 2020" and available at https://doi.org/10.3133/sim3478/.

This page contains 15 estimated quantiles for 9,203 level-12 Hydrologic Unit Code in the Southeastern United States for the decades 1950-1959, 1960-1969, 1970-1979, 1980-1989, 1990-1999, and 2000-2009. A multi-output neural network was used to generate the estimated quantiles (Worland and others, 2019). The R scripts that generated the predictions are also included along with a README file. This data release consists of statistical predictions of daily salinity time series generated from the makESTUSAL software repository described by Asquith and others (2023b). The statistical methods included multiple methods of machine learning, which produced the daily salinity prediction and attendant credible uncertainties included in the data release. The geographic scope includes the predictions for 91 locations within bays and estuaries of the Gulf of Mexico, United States. Censored and uncensored generalized additive models (GAMs) are developed from 955 U.S. Geological Survey streamflow-gaging stations (streamgages) to predict decadal statistics of streamflow. The streamgages are located on streams draining to the Gulf of Mexico. Decadal statistics include no-flow fractions and selected L-moments of nonzero streamflow for six decades (1950s—2000s). These statistics represent metrics of decadal flow-duration curves (dFDCs) derived from about 10 million daily mean streamflows.
