These data were compiled from six automated weather stations that together provide several points in the meteorological record across a latitudinal and elevational gradient in southeastern Utah. Recorded data from these weather stations are associated with several different studies. Meteorological data are important for quantifying short term weather events as well as longer term climate trends. Spatially separated precipitation gauges allow for better characterization of the heterogeneity of precipitation events. These data were collected from six locations running from north to south in southeast Utah. All of the weather stations use Campbell Scientific data loggers and data are collected daily via telecommunications...

These data were compiled to provide Fred Phillips Consultants with an estimate of river and stream vegetation (riparian) water use within the Little Colorado River (LCR) Watershed in Arizona, specifically providing an estimate of riparian plant area ET (mm/day and in mm/year) for actual remotely-sensed estimates of ETa and CU for at least one year of data (i.e., 2020). Objectives of our study were to measure five water metrics for the Little Colorado River watershed region on the Navajo Nation. These water metrics represent data including precipitation (P), potential evapotranspiration (ETo), actual evapotranspiration (ETa), net water requirement (WR) or the water difference (WD) between ETa and rainfall, and consumptive...

These data were compiled to model the effects of flow regime and bed grain size distributions on rates of gross primary production (GPP) in the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam, AZ, USA. The objectives of our study were to quantify daily and weekly scale effects of an experimental flow regime on GPP in the Colorado River. The experimental flow was conducted at Glen Canyon Dam from May-August in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and contrasted steady-low flows on weekend days with business-as-usual hydropeaking flows during weekdays. This data release only contains data through 2019. These data represent daily-scale estimates of GPP, discharge, turbidity, water depth, and canyon shading for eleven reaches on the Colorado...

These data are daily climate, water balance, and soil moisture data for 270 plots in the National Park Service (NPS) Southern Colorado Plateau Network (SCPN) Inventory & Monitoring (I&M) network. Climate data was collected from a gridded, daily climate dataset, Daymet (https://daymet.ornl.gov/). Climate, alongside field-collected soils (SoilDepthsByPlot.csv) and vegetation information, were then used to drive a point based, daily, multi soil-layer, ecosystem water-balance model, SOILWAT2 (https://github.com/DrylandEcology/SOILWAT2). SCPN plots were established to capture the range of ecosystem conditions present in this network. Plant communities of the SCPN are a vital sign for this region, enhancing habitat, stabilizing...

These data were compiled to evaluate the potential adverse impacts that stocked trout may have on native fish populaitons through predation. Hatchery-reared rainbow and brown trout are typically fed exclusively on commercially prepared pelleted feeds and have no experience catching or consuming life fish at the time of stocking and yet stocked fish are percieved to present a high predation risk for juvenile native fishes. These data were compiled to allow for a relative comparison of predation effectiveness between hatchery-reared fish and wild fish. Mean numbers of prey fish surviving in replicated overnight laboratory predation trials were quantified.

Using Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) soil databases, topographic features derived from digital elevation models, stream networks, and regional climatic patterns, I developed a ranking system for watershed potential erosion rates and suitability for check-dam placement across the SRLCC. This ranking system serves as a first step for land managers to prioritize areas for check-dam installation based on relatively static factors (soil properties, topography, and hydrology) that can contribute to rates of soil erosion by water and the stability of check-dams. Many other relatively dynamic factors over time can contribute to rates of soil erosion by water, such as recent wildfire events, changes in weather...

Data was collected to characterize the conditions under which sagebrush occurs after seeding and wildfire in the Great Basin, and used to parameterize models used to explore adaptive seeding approaches. Data includes plot level field data on sagebrush occurrence, density, weather, and soil moisture conditions in the year that seeding after wildfire occurred. Weather data includes both average annual summaries and average weather at 5-day intervals from day 1-250 of the year of seeding. Also included are summaries of annual temperature and soil moisture conditions from 1979 to 2016 and model predictions of the probability of sagebrush establishment in each of these years.

These geospatial data characterize the potential for geographic overlap among areas likely to experience climate drying (aridification) and high intensity land-use with population growth, recreation tourism, agriculture, energy development, and mining on the Colorado Plateau. Spatial overlap between areas of high land-use intensity and aridification were used to create scenarios and corresponding consensus maps for areas with high potential to experience detrimental effects to ecosystem attributes (recreation economy, water availability, vegetation and wildlife habitat, and spiritual and cultural resources). This analytical framework for assessing the potential impacts of overlapping land-use and climate change...

These data were simulated using the SOILWAT model and were intended to characterize soil-water conditions at different ecological sites on the Southern Colorado Plateau. SOILWAT is a daily, site-specific, multi soil-layer, ecosystem water-balance model, driven by daily meteorology, as well as site soil texture and vegetation. The sites simulated correspond with Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) plots established by the National Park Service’s (NPS) Southern Colorado Plateau Network (SCPN), which were established to capture the range of ecosystem conditions present in this network. Plant communities of the Southern Colorado Plateau Network (SCPN) are a vital sign for this region, enhancing habitat, stabilizing soils,...

These data were estimated for use in the bioecomomic model simulation of the rainbow trout population in the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. The initial rainbow trout abundance is a vector (RBT_intN) representing the population of rainbow trout within each river segment (151 mile long sergments) along the mainstem of the Colorado River from Lees Ferry to 151 river miles downstream. The movement matrix (MMat) is a distribution that estimates the probability that a rainbow trout wil move to any one of the 151 river segments downstream of Lees Ferry.
