This data set consists of 19 wideband magnetotelluric (MT) and 23 transient electromagnetic (TEM) soundings collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in June 2020 as part of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Geothermal Resources Assessment: Phase 2 project. Each MT station had 4 components, 2 orthogonal magnetic induction coils and 2 horizontal orthogonal electric dipoles. Data were collected for an average of 18 hours on a repeating schedule of alternating sampling rates of 256 samples/second for 5 hours and 50 minutes and 4096 samples/second for 10 minutes. The schedules were set such that each station was recording the same schedule to allow for remote reference processing. Data were processed with a bounded-influence...

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 1989 across the Idaho Batholith, Payette National Forest, Idaho, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The primary focus is on geologic elements that relate to the Late Cretaceous Idaho batholith geometry and the development of the Yellow Pine mining district and Stibnite mining area. Twenty MT soundings along one 110-km long profile were acquired during the time period of July 19-27, 1989. This study was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey's Mineral Resources Program in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.

Digitization of oil and gas well pad sites in the Piceance region of Western Colorado. Well pad sites were delineated using a modified version of the Rapid Land Cover Mapping protocol (Preston and Kim, 2016). The base imagery used to delineate boundaries is the 2015 National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery. Well coordinate locations facilitating the targeting of well pad sites were downloaded from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) in February 2016. Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during April and May 2019 along 1,467 line-kilometers in the San Juan-Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field. Data were acquired by Geotech, Ltd. with the versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM-ET) system together with a Geometrics optically pumped cesium vapor magnetometer. The survey was flown at a mean flight height of 140 meters (m) above terrain in various line directions and line spacings ranging from 150 m to 600 m. Multiple variable-spaced lines were flown along rivers and streams in the survey area. USGS provided the contractor with the San Juan National Forest Lidar Point Cloud elevation...

Shallow soil characteristics were mapped near Shellmound, Mississippi, using the DualEM 421 electromagnetic sensor in October 2018. Data were acquired by towing the DualEM sensor on a wheeled cart behind an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), with the sensor at a height of 0.432 meters (m) above the ground surface. Approximately 175 line-kilometers of data were acquired over an area of nearly four square-kilometers, with 25 m separation between survey lines. Data were manually edited for noise sources such as powerlines or other buried structures and averaged to regular output soundings every 5 m along survey lines. The processed data were inverted to recover models of electrical resistivity structure as a function of depth...

This data release is part of a study examining the use of near-stream groundwater discharge as a tool for Geochemical Exploration. Handcart Gulch is an unmined alpine watershed in Montezuma Mining District in the Colorado Front Range. The streambed is cemented by deep ferricrete deposits. Stream water, groundwater, and ferricrete samples were collected and analyzed to constrain the location of a possible concealed mineral occurrence identified by previous stream water sampling. Nineteen, near stream mini-boreholes were drilled through ferricrete using a portable, handheld, gasoline powered, rock coring drill manufactured by Shaw Tool. Boreholes were drilled within 2 meters of the stream on the east and west banks...

This data release compiles major and trace element analytical results of samples of bauxite (aluminum ore) and associated rocks collected from the Arkansas bauxite region, located near the center of Arkansas in Pulaski and Saline Counties. Samples were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in April 2018 as part of the USGS' focus on increased understanding of the United States' critical mineral resources. Mineral commodities, based on USGS studies, have been designated as critical where the United States is predominantly reliant on foreign sources (McCullough and Nassar, 2017; Fortier and others, 2018). The five primary aluminum smelters in the U.S., in 2017 and previous years, were dependent on imported...

This dataset consists of 176 wideband magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected from 2015-2019 across parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) acquired these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic and tectonic framework of the area and to support mineral resource investigations. These data have been used to generate a 3D regional conductivity model of the area. Files included in this publication include measured electric- and magnetic-field time series as well as estimated impedance and vertical-magnetic field transfer functions.

Wireline logging temperature readings are known to be imprecise and need to be corrected to more accurately show what the formation temperature is. One issue with correcting logging temperatures is what correction factor to use. Because there are so many correction factors and they are based on different types of data and locations choosing a correction factor for a particular study area can be challenging to deal with. Some previous work has factored in only depth and other work includes time since circulation as a major component. This data set is comprised of bottom hole temperature, depth, and time since circulation that have had seven different correction factors run on the data. The data was consolidated into...
