The US Geological Survey Chesapeake Bay Watershed Land Cover Data Series, 2011 edition, (CBLCD-e11) consists of Level I Land Cover data for the years 1984, 1992, 2001, 2006 and 2011. It consists of a series of five 8-bit unsigned integer raster data files of 30 meter spatial resolution in Albers Conic Equal Area projection, NAD83 datum. The 1984 – 2006 data layers were created by aggregating most Level II Anderson classes of the USGS CBLCD Land Cover Data Series released in 2010 (Irani and Claggett, 2010).

This posting contains field and satellite data collected in support of the scientific manuscript "Improved crop residue cover estimates by coupling spectral indices for residue and moisture." Quemada, M., W.D. Hively, C.S. Daughtry, B.T. Lamb, and J. Shermeyer. In review by Remote Sensing of Environment. In this study, field data were collected on May 15, 2015 and paired with reflectance data collected May 14th 2015. The manuscript compares portions of agricultural fields that were irrigated the day of imagery acquisitions with portions of the same fields not yet irrigated, using the contrast to derive a moisture correction algorithm for determination of percent crop residue cover. The data publication contains...

This data set is combination of imagery from the Advanced Land Imager and Landsat 8 Surface reflectance data product covering three USGS gauge stations, Middle Haddam Connecticut (01193050), Potomac River at Little Falls (01646500), and the Susquehanna River at Darlington, Maryland (01579550) and the Sandy Hook to Jamaica Bays areas of the New York and New Jersey coast. Raw and corrected water quality data was collected from the NWIS database for the corresponding dates of Landsat 8 overpasses of all three sites. Calculations and functions from the Landsat bands were compared, such as band ratios and power functions were calculated and compared against the corrected data for Colored Dissolved Organic Matter. These...

This posting contains the source climate and crop rotation data used to run the SWAT model in the Tuckahoe and Upper Choptank watersheds, Maryland. It also contains the monthly flow load data used for validation of model results. The data release was produced in compliance with the new 'open data' requirements as a way to make the scientific products associated with USGS research efforts and publications available to the public. It is in support of a peer reviewed journal article titled "Assessing the impacts of future climate conditions on the effectiveness of winter cover crops in reducing nitrate loads into the Chesapeake bay watershed using SWAT model." The dataset consists of the following items: 1. Greensboro...

This dataset contains digitized land use/land cover (LULC) polygons for years between 1998 and 2013 for six watersheds within and near the Clarksburg Special Protection Area located in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA. Each polygon is representative of the LULC for a specific year within 500-foot buffered watersheds. Watershed boundaries for Cabin Branch (CB), Crystal Rock (CR), Soper Branch (SB), Tributary 104 (T104), and Tributary 109 (T109) were derived using USGS topographic maps while Ten Mile Creek (TMC) was derived using Montgomery County, Maryland LiDAR data. The Habitat Digitizer Extension add-in from NOAA for ArcMap was used to customize a hierarchical classification scheme to attribute polygons delineated...
