The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has been engaged in airborne electromagnetics (AEM) since the 1970s, playing a role in the development of early acquisition systems, developing calibration methods, refining standards for data acquisition, improving data processing, modeling, and interpretation methods, and expanding the range of AEM applications. However, USGS AEM survey visibility and data accessibility has not advanced as rapidly as our use of the technique. This data release catalogs AEM surveys in the United States that have contributed to studies under USGS programs including Water, Geologic Mapping, Minerals, Energy, Environmental Health, Ecosystems, Hazards, and Climate. This dataset contains locations for...

Shallow subsurface electrical conductivity was mapped at selected U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service managed lands in northeast Montana and northwest North Dakota using the DUALEM421 electromagnetic sensor (Dualem, Inc., ON, Canada) in the winters of 2017 and 2018. Data were acquired by towing the DUALEM421 sensor on a sled behind an all-terrain vehicle or snow machine, with the sensor at a nominal height of 0.3 meters (m) above ground surface. Approximately 427 line-kilometers (km) of data were acquired over an area of nearly 26 square-kilometers. Data were manually edited to remove sensor dropouts, lag corrected for apparent offsets between recorded GPS location and data locations for each coil pair, and averaged...

This data release is a compilation of the locations of airborne geophysical surveys in the United States. The inventory documents public airborne geophysical surveys primarily flown by or contracted by the USGS from 1943 to present. In addition, surveys from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (DGGS): Airborne GeophysWeb, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Energy and other state agencies have also been included. The surveys have contributed to studies under USGS programs including Water, Geologic Mapping, Minerals, Energy, Environmental Health, Ecosystems, Hazards, and Climate. This dataset contains locations for known and inventoried...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during April and May 2019 along 1,467 line-kilometers in the San Juan-Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field. Data were acquired by Geotech, Ltd. with the versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM-ET) system together with a Geometrics optically pumped cesium vapor magnetometer. The survey was flown at a mean flight height of 140 meters (m) above terrain in various line directions and line spacings ranging from 150 m to 600 m. Multiple variable-spaced lines were flown along rivers and streams in the survey area. USGS provided the contractor with the San Juan National Forest Lidar Point Cloud elevation...

On September 25, 1998, SIAL Géosciences Inc. (SIAL) was awarded Department of Interior, contract 98CRCN1018, by the U.S. Geological Survey. This contract required SIAL to carry out a high-sensitivity magnetic and electromagnetic helicopter survey over one block located in the Eureka Graben Area near Silverton, Colorado. The primary goal of this project was to provide digitally recorded and processed magnetic and electromagnetic data in order to evaluate geologic and hydrologic resources of the Eureka Graben Area. The base of on-site field operations was Silverton, Colorado. The survey was carried out by SIAL between May 27th and June 9th, 1999. This report describes the survey parameters, data acquisition and processing...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data were acquired in late February to early March 2018 along 2,364 line-kilometers in the Shellmound, Mississippi study area. Data were acquired by CGG Canada Services, Ltd. with three different helicopter-borne sensors: the CGG Canada Services, Ltd. RESOLVE frequency-domain AEM instrument that is used to map subsurface geologic structure at depths up to 100 meters, depending on the subsurface resistivity; a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (hundreds of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations; and a Radiation Solutions RS-500 spectrometer that detects...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected by CGG Canada Services Ltd. in collaboration with the USGS for the City of Cedar Rapids in a 53-square-kilometer area of the Cedar River Basin to the west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The survey was flown between May 4 and May 5, 2017 along 347 line kilometers. Electromagnetic data were acquired using RESOLVE frequency-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system. Magnetic data were collected with 1-Scintres Cesium Vapour (CS-3) magnetometer. Sensor elevation above ground was measured with Optech G-150 laser. The nominal elevation of the sensor was 30 m. This data release includes processed AEM and magnetic data and inverted resistivity depth sections.
