This data release contains the analytical results and the evaluated source data files of a geospatial analysis for identifying areas in Alaska that may have potential for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn (lead-zinc) deposits. The spatial analysis is based on queries of statewide source datasets Alaska Geochemical Database (AGDB3), Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), and Alaska Geologic Map (SIM3340) within areas defined by 12-digit HUCs (subwatersheds) from the National Watershed Boundary dataset. The packages of files available for download are: 1. The results in geodatabase format are in SedPbZn_Results_gdb.zip. The analytical results for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposits are in a polygon feature class which contains the points...

This data is part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, benthic monitoring component and a seasonal diet study in Kenai Fjords National Park. The dataset is a comma separated file exported from a Microsoft Access database. The data consists of observations made of foraging sea otters (Enhydra lutris). Observers used Questar field model spotting scopes and binoculars to identify prey. Date, local time, dive duration, success, prey type, prey size, prey number, handling time and surface time are all recorded. Sites are in Alaska and include locations in Katmai National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park and Prince William Sound. This data in this file were collected 2012-2016.

We are provoding a set of table and maps that provides summary of ecosystem carbon balance (pools and fluxes) as simulated by the Dynamic Organic Soil version of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Model. Simulations are provided for the historical period from 1950 to 2009 and projections from 2010 to 2099, for the four main landscape conservation cooperative regions in Alaska (i.e. the Arctic, the Western Alaska, the North Pacific and the Northwest Boreal LCCs). Projections have been conducted at 1km-resolution for two set of climate scenarios for the A1B, B1 and A2 emission scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (IPCC-SRES). The two global circulation models used...

Polar bear maternal dens were published in a USGS Data Series report (568). Data were processed by Abby Benson for inclusion in OBIS-USA in 2014. An update of the dataset was published in 2018. Data were re-processed by Abby Benson in 2022.
These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. Specifically, these data describe site locations for rocky intertidal, mussel sampling, soft sediment bivalve sampling, and eelgrass bed sampling in the northern Gulf of Alaska within the GWA program. The dataset consists of two comma separated files exported from a Microsoft Excel workbook. The data consists of 1. rocky intertidal, mussel sampling, and soft sediment site location information, and 2. eelgrass bed locations. Sampling will be conducted in Katmai National Park and Preserve (KATM), Kenai Fjords National Park (KEFJ), Prince William Sound (PWS) and to a lesser extent on the Lake Clark National...

Compressed file sedPbZn_SourceData_gdb.zip contains the GIS datasets and Python scripts used to calculate the estimated potential and certainty that sediment-hosted Pb-Zn (lead-zinc) deposits might be present in an area in Alaska. The statewide datasets include: Alaska Geochemical Database (AGDB3), Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), lithology layers created from Alaska Geologic Map (SIM3340), and 12-digit HUCs, subwatersheds from the National Watershed Boundary dataset. FGDC metadata for all datasets are included. In addition, files are included for the user to modify the parameters of the analysis. These include two Python scripts, 1) used to score ARDF sites for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn potential, and 2) to evaluate...

In 2020, the Alaska Science Center and the Idaho Water Science Center conducted bathymetric surveys at three highway bridge structures. The bridge structures (NBI 331 and 1187) at Flag Point near Cordova, AK are located on Alaska State Route 10 (commonly referred to as the Copper River Highway). Bridge structure NBI 539 on the Knik River is located on the Old Glenn Hwy near Butte, AK. These bathymetry data generally include complete coverage for upstream and downstream channels, except for extreme shallow areas along banks, where structures limited boat access, or where data was removed during post-processing. Bridges 1187, 331, and 539 are scour-critical bridges, and 1187 and 539 are part of the Alaska Science...

Compressed file sedPbZn_Appendices.zip contains the appendix files 2, 3, and 4 associated with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) publication Open-File Report 2020-1147. Appendix 2 provides the scoring criteria of the Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), listing keywords for different ARDF fields and the weighting factor for each word. Appendix 3 lists the ARDF sites with the resulting scores of the keyword searches. Appendix 4 charts out the queries used on the Geologic Map of Alaska to create different lithology datasets. The appendices are each provided as XLSX and CSV files. Also included is a CSV with the results of the scoring analysis showing for each subwatershed (HUC12) the score for each source data layer, total...
