For thousands of years, Pacific lamprey and Pacific eulachon have been important traditional foods for Native American tribes of the Columbia River Basin and coastal areas of Oregon and Washington. These fish have large ranges – spending part of their lives in the ocean and part in freshwater streams – and they require specific environmental conditions to survive, migrate, and reproduce. For these reasons, Pacific lamprey and Pacific eulachon are likely threatened by a variety of climate change impacts to both their ocean and freshwater habitats. The Delaware River clubtail (Gomphurus septima delawarensis) is an endemic dragonfly subspecies found in the Delaware River watershed. Due to significant data gaps regarding its taxonomy, distribution, habitat associations, and response to key threats, it is considered a Science Needs species by the Science Applications program in the Northeast. This pilot study is focused on the known historic locations for the subspecies in New York and intends to field-test survey methodologies for assessing its distribution within the Delaware watershed. In the last two decades, the spruce beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis Kirby) has killed >1.5 million ha of forest in Southcentral Alaska, and more than 350,000 cumulative hectares have been impacted since 2016. We need to understand what landscape and climate conditions predispose forests to stand level mortality during beetle outbreaks in order to identify areas most prone to beetle disturbance and to support the development of appropriate climatic indices that can serve as early warning of outbreaks. The North American Bee Distribution Tool is an interactive portal that allows for rapid assessment of apparent bee species richness throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tool incorporates species occurrence data of six families of bees using data provided by GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility, www.gbif.org), as well as conservation status rankings provided by NatureServe (www.natureserve.org).
