Marine geophysical mapping of the Queen Charlotte Fault in the eastern Gulf of Alaska was conducted in 2016 as part of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to understand the morphology and subsurface geology of the entire Queen Charlotte system. The Queen Charlotte fault is the offshore portion of the Queen Charlotte-Fairweather Fault: a major structural feature that extends more than 1,200 kilometers from the Fairweather Range of southern Alaska to northern Vancouver Island, Canada. In 2015 the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG), collected bathymetry and acoustic-backscatter data near Cross Sound in southeast Alaska using a Reson 7111 multibeam echosounder mounded to the ADFG R/V Solstice. This section of the data release provides the acoustic-backscatter data as a GeoTIFF at 10-m spatial resolution. All files have accompanying FGDC metadata.

In 2015 the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG), collected bathymetry and acoustic-backscatter data near Cross Sound in southeast Alaska using a Reson 7111 multibeam echosounder mounded to the ADFG R/V Solstice. This section of the data release provides the survey tracklines as a GIS shapefile. All files have accompanying FGDC metadata.

Summary This data release contains postprocessed model output from simulations of hypothetical rapid motion of landslides, subsequent wave generation, and wave propagation. A modeled tsunami wave was generated by rapid motion of unstable material into Barry Arm Fjord. This wave propagated through Prince William Sound and then into Passage Canal east of Whittier. Here we consider only the largest wave-generating scenario presented by Barnhart and others (2021a, 2021b) and use a simulation setup similar to that work. This data release contains data sets associated with the 2023 50-State National Seismic Hazard Model Update. The 2023 50-State National Seimsic Hazard Model (NSHM) Update includes an update to the NSHMs for the conterminous U.S (CONUS, last updated in 2018), Alaska (AK, last updated in 2007), and Hawaii (last updated in 2001). Data sets include inputs like seismicity catalogs used as input to the smoothed seismicity model and updated induced seismicity zone polygons in the central and eastern U.S., as well as outputs like hazard curves and uniform-hazard ground motion values. This data release provides a gridded compilation of bathymetry data collected prior to the 2015 landslide in Taan Fiord, the northeast arm of Icy Bay, Alaska. The data release consists of a 50-m grid, derived from ten prior surveys covering both Taan Fiord and Icy Bay.
